In short: Fun and fast In full: not the cheapest to enter, but really well marshalled and organised (for the most part). Date of review: August 3, 2011

In short: Awesome route over a relatively fast course. In full: Nice enough atmosphere at the start although the warm up was an annoying waste of time, especially when you can't really participate due to being so tightly packed into starting pens. The pens were also not big enough, meaning many people still of the route when the race started. Course includes the very best of York and really makes the race special. There's a couple of slight gradients but nothing you would call a proper hill, so it's pretty quick too. Many people over estimating their abilities in the starting pens as usual but not the organisers fault! The lack of a medal didn't bother me, but might disappoint some people. In short: Brilliant race In full: My 3rd year for this race and I have finally managed to crack getting to the start without any traffic problems. I parked my car at the start line at 7am, setting off from Doncaster at 6am. Drastic I know but it said get there early and because of this I had a fab day! The race was excellent, great support and organisation, thank you marshalls and the people of York. I wish some of less able runners would not crowd the start ( i am no usain bolt) but it can be annoying having to dodge walkers in the 1st 1 to 2 km. I enjoy the twisty route, the river run and around the city centre a good mix. Thanks run for all. I did Hull and York this year and they were fantastic. I may try the swim next year. In short: Very enjoyable In full: I enjoyed the lovely atmosphere. I came up from London just to take part and visit York at the same time and was not disappointed (although I took part to the Leeds sister run last year and was expecting as many people). It was a shame the start got delayed because of traffic. The warm up (if you can call it that) was marching on the spot, elbow to knee and a few squats... hmmm... I agree with someone else's review saying that the lady from BBC kept on saying this was not a race, how do you call a run where you get sent a timing chip through the post? Plus at the end she was saying things like "London eat your heart out, we'll show you how it is done..". If you have nothing to say, just dont' say anything!! I agree it was a lovely atmosphere and I would probably do it again next year, but no need to compare it to London as there is no comparision. I hope this race grows and grows every year, people running for good causes always inspire.
There was plenty of support along the route, two water stations at km 4 and 7 and plenty of water and Lucozade at the end. It would have been nice to have another set of loos though. Was not disappointed not to receive a medal (I have so much metal at home anyhow!!) but loved the t-shirt. Goody bag was nothing amazing: a small fruit bar, a small chocolate and a £5 voucher from Runners' need... but who cares, I had fun and the sun was shining! Date of review: August 1, 2011

In short: Fantastic race, great atmosphere in a great location In full: The only problem I found was the queues to get to the racecourse and I had set out in plenty of time so I can appreciate the organisers delaying the start for 10 mins to give everyone a chance to get to the start. As always this is a lovely race (but why did the radio woman on the mike keep saying it wasnt a race?? then why are there prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd position winners??) through the City of York and back to the racecourse. Lots of support along the way, bottled water stations, finishers t-shirt and plenty of lucozade sports drink at the finish. Always a great carnival atmosphere, with rides for the kids and stalls to look round - something for everyone running or not.I already have my season ticket for next year - Hull, Leeds & York. In short: Great event for first timers In full: Great event in York, big thanks to all the marshalls and the guys sorting the car park out, which was a hell of a job in its own right in the sun. Ideal event for beginners, slightly frustrating start for runners though, holding the warm up at the start line led to a lot of walkers for the first few km. Really enthusiastic marshalls and a great cause. Date of review: August 1, 2011

In short: Lovely race In full: The only downside was the biggest queue for the loos I have ever seen ! Ended up stopping en route at the 3k point ! Recked my chance of a PB but still loved the race. Date of review: August 1, 2011

In short: Great race, second year doing it and I'll definitely be a regular. In full: Only down point is (which applies to all races not just this one) I'd like to see them announce to the beginners that they should make sure they're in the right time zone.
Love the race though Date of review: July 31, 2011

In short: A grand day out Gromit In full: The delayed start was irritating. There's plenty of warning in the literature sent out by RFA about parking problems and the need to arrive early so no excuse really. I know it was only 10 minutes or so but it started to get a bit hot in the starting pens. Anyway that's the moan out of the way. Superb weather. A few stalls to mooch around and kill a bit of time before the race. There seemed to be loads more support all the way around this year, both from the public and the marshals. Thanks to all who organised it and to the brilliant marshals. Date of review: July 31, 2011
