In short: Great race, friendly, scenic, informative and enthusiastic marshalls In full: This was my first trail race which was quite a surprise to me on the morning as i really hadn't given it any thought that it was in the woods and probably wouldn't be on roads :D However..this was brilliant, i loved it but blimey was it hard on me and my pavement running legs. The Fat Feet peeps were lovely and welcoming and friendly as were all the marshalls who were ever encouraging. The drinks stations were perfectly spaced but i'm not a fan of cups as i prefer to sip as i go. Little but gutted there was no medal but then it would have been nothing compared to the falic shaped one i got at Edinburgh 2 weeks ago but did get a vest which is great and a resistance band??. Overall i really enjoyed myself and considering i did the marathon 2 weeks ago thought i fared pretty well by missing my (road) PB of 2 mins. Will definitely do again :D Date of review: June 11, 2012

In short: A great, challenging trail half. Well worth a go. In full: This is as close as I get to a home race, so surprisingly my first time at this event. I've got to say, having run though these woods hundreds of times, I don't recall it having that many hills! I'm low on training so it was hard going for the time I was aiming at but was well worth it.
The race itself, 13 miles through some lovely Lincolnshire woodland with all you'd expect from a good trail run. Varied ground, hills, mud, excellent stuff. Considering the size of Bourne Woods it's natural to expect a loop or three but given the woodland this isn't a terrible thing. Organisation is minimal but very encouraging stewards and good directions. Regular water spots (cups but hey ho) and a nice friendly atmosphere. The run is a good challenge for anyone, I'm so glad I did it and will be back again and again. Date of review: June 11, 2012

In short: First 1/2 Marathon In full: Great location and certainly a challange. Great support along the way and some good banter with all along the way. The smell of sauages carried me over the line more than my feet did. Yes it was tough underfoot but nothing a little rain wouldn't have sorted out. See you next year! Date of review: June 1, 2011

In short: Without a doubt would do again In full: As a beginner runner I found the Woodland Half Marathon the perfect mix of challenge I wanted, a demanding route in an inspirational setting. It was definitely not easy but any half marathon at my current ability level wouldn’t be either having completed this distance for the very first time;-) I would be happy to continue to take part in Fat Feet events and support a fledgling organisation trying to inspire and create new challenges. Its definitely had that affect on me anyway. Date of review: June 1, 2011

In short: Getting better but still some way to go. In full: Fat Feet have listened to some of the comments last year (not enough water stations or portaloos) but appear to have compounded things somewhat by a) not putting a year or date on the medal, and b) issuing confusing information on the website about a t-shirt. If you're only going to give t-shirts to people who were best in category, say so on your website so the majority of people don't expect one! As others have said, ground was hard going underfoot, which made it more of a challenge, and the water would be preferable in bottles. Nice to see a sausage van in the car park though. I may do it again next year, Date of review: June 1, 2011

In short: Very enjoyable, well organised, lovely venue and supportive marshals In full: My first trail half marathon, so was over the moon to finish (so much tougher than road runs), but thoroughly enjoyed it even thou I found some parts quite challenging. Event well organised and very supportive marshals! Nice scenic venue, and were lucky with the weather. Will defiantly be back next year to improve my time! Thanks Fat-Feet! In short: Great organisation and friendly atmosphere compliment a scenic route that is must for all trial runners In full: This was my second time taking part in a Fat-Feet organised race, the first being the Grimsthorpe Ultra 70, and yet again I was blown away by the dedication the team put into ensuring the runners have not only a great race, but also a great experience. The route was worth the admission price alone, and luckily the sun finally came out when the race began. The race consisted of two 5 mile-ish laps, with a third lap taking you through an alternate route to the finish. The route was clearly labelled, and if in doubt where to go next marshals were never fall away to lend a hand. The route was fairly challenging which a surprising amount of hills, a good thing in my book.
The scenic route was complemented by enthusiastic marshals that helped keep moral high with encouragement and banter during the later stages of the race. Water stations were situation every 2-3 miles in plastic cups. The goody bags were as good as or better than most that are given out at these types of non-corporate races. In it I received two energy sachets, and an oat bar and a medal. Overall I would recommend this race to experienced runners all the way down to newbies entering their first race.
