In short: what else can I add to other posts? very bad basic mistake spoilt what should have been a good race.
In full: At first I was rather angry as I was bang on for a personal best but after a couple of days I now feel sorry for whoever was not at the correct station in the park. If I feel bad just how must they feel. It has potential to be a decent race and I thought it was quite a fast course, ok one bigish hill but you are repaid by a long downhill and where I am from you cannot avois hills so they never worry me anyway. I hope they give it a go next year and take on board the critisism offered from this years event

In short: FIASCO.
In full: FIASCO. I didn't get up at 4.30am to drive from the Cader Idris race to do a 10k that was nearly a mile short. And they had run out of medals, when I pre-entered.

I missed the Ilkley trail race for this as I wanted to do a 10k race. It wasn't a 10k race.

Would I have entered a 5.4 mile race in somewhere as dull as Stoke? No I would not. I entered as I wanted a 10k race, but didn't get one.

In full: Hats off to the council for trying to organise a race, real pity there was a mix-up with the marshalling as the race will be remember for that ahead of the many good points of the day. Plenty of parking was available very near to the start and it was free, it was a good atmosphere, a good warm up for the Potters Arf, the race was fairly priced unlike some 10k races and the potential for PB is huge. I managed 35:01 and my Garmin had the distance at 5.41 compared to 39:53 at the fabulous Muller 10k a few weeks ago so I reckon I'd of knocked 30 seconds off that time.

I'll be there next year and recommending it to others, keep up the good work Stoke

In short: Disappointed that distance wasn't quite a 10k, due to missing marshall!
In full: This was my 1st 10k and only my 2nd race ever! I really enjoyed it and would definatley do it again, hopefully it will be a full 10k next time lol! My only aim was to run it all and get in under an hour and 10 mins, I did manage to run it all in 50.14 so by my reckoning at that pace would have managed 10k in under an hour, so I'm happy :-) As others have said the fun runners could have done with starting after as there were a lot of children in a large crowd and they could so easily have been knocked over, my 7 and 5 year old want to do the fun run next year and I wouldn't have fancied them in that big crowd!!

In short: Good potential but let down on the day
In full: I guess new races always have teething problems, but this one had more than most, with the obvious being the wrong distance run. It did seem surprsing that they started the fun run at the same time, and the organisaiton at beginning and end was lacking. Having said that, all credit to Stoke Council for trying to introduce a new race, i hope they do it again, it does have the potential to be a real good event in the future and it does seem to actively want to encourage new runners and those of all abilities.
