In short: Hard as nails in the heat, but a a top day
In full: What a great and totally enjoyable package. Apart from the pain; the pain was bad. The route is another cracker, as only Lakeland can deliver, changing dramatically over quite short distances with breathtaking views enjoyed just momentarily, long slow winding climbs and short fast descents.

The atmosphere after was a treat, lounging on the grass with a pint of Jennings, chatting to other runners and listening to Pete Lashley singing. Excellent.

In short: Superb, hard but you'll finish with a huge smile
In full: Brilliant event! Incredible scenery on a challenging course. The 'Sting In the Tail' climb was painful but you can enjoy the pelt downhill all the way to the finish where cheers & drums await you!

In short: Fabulous event for runners and spectators alike
In full: A scorcher of a day this year added to the challenge of the two testing ascents on the course. The last mile or so over fields and stiles is a killer on tired legs, followed by an exhilarating down hill finale from the top of Retson Scar back down to the village! Really gave my soft, road runnign legs a severe workout!
Carnival atmosphere all day at the start/finish, and nice to see the locals joining in with cake stalls on the streets. the open air entertainment from Pete Lashley gave it a min--festival feel, or that have been the post-race Jenninmgs ale going to my de-hydrated head!
Wonderful day all round and I have alrerady signed up for the Keswick race!

In short: superb race - made me fall in love with running again!!! Scenery outstanding and a race which is hard as nails! Perfect combination
In full: The scenery is worth the fee alone, it truly is a magnificent setting - such a privilege to be able to run in such a beautiful part of the country.

The event was very well organised and the camaraderie amongst the competitors was fantastic. The race was hard as nails, with several lung busting hilly sections and one crazy suicidal descent at the end, but the sense of achievement on completing it will last with you for many weeks. I'll definately be back next year and as a result of this one race I've signed up for the rest of the series!

A favourite by a long way!!!

In short: Great Race - even if I did land in the only bog head first!
In full: Hot, hard, and probably lovely scenery (too busy looking at the ground to see it..) Roads congested on arival (nearly missed the fun trails), but otherwise smooth operation. Loved the live music at the end - great to soak up the sunshine, relaxing with the family and listening to nice tunes - and the drummers are a brilliant way of getting revved up too! If I can forget the pain I'll be back!

In short: A race for everyone!
In full: I live in the Lakes so am lucky to be able to run on and around these mountains week in week out, but what I really love is how us middle-of-the-packers get to congratulate the winners as they leg it past us and how even the fastest are stopping to do Usain Bolt poses or even take photos! A great atmosphere and especially perfect for first time off-roaders.
