In short: Why on earth do I like this race?
In full: Now that is a question I simply can't answer!

The course is boring in terms of scenery, though mildly challenging in places. The spectators were few and far between - I'd say they were less than the last couple of years. The Marshalls also seemed fewer, and one was even laying in the middle of a roundabout looking rather bored with everything.

I'm not bothered by the crowd at the begining, and thought both the start and finish this year were better than previous years.

But the race is far too expensive - and why do we *have* to have a shirt? I'd rather pay less and have no shirt; I've got far too many already (so my wife says!).

On the other hand, the medal and goody bag are good, and Bluewater welcomes you after the race. Its only 20 minutes away from home so is one of my most local races. And I stripped 4 minutes of my 2009 time; which was faster than 2008!

Why on earth do I like this race? I really don't know, but its one I have to keep coming back to. So yes, I'll be there again!

In short: More challenging than I expected
In full: Thought this would be flat and fast, but the hills really kicked in midway . Adidas technical t shirt is great, as is medal. Few nice little freebies as well. Managed to start relatively close to the front, amongst similar paced runners. Wish there had been clearly marked starting areas based on predicted finishing time due to large numbers of runners.

Route was pretty dull to be fair, and wouldnt be inclined to return unless it was for another Kent GP.

Not bothered by pacers (- its only 10k!) or by organised warm ups!

In short: 'Slight incline'
In full: Good race, nice first 4km on a bypass - flat and quick. For the second half of the race I was promised a 'sligh incline' at 5km which actually turned out to be a tad more than 'slight' and there were infact two inclines. The rest of the course is undulating with a nice downhill finish. The Addidas technical t-shirt is top quality and looks the part too. Good mix of beginners and club runners. Not a fast course due to the diffiuclt middle KM but nothing to be worried about. Good orginisation, but sadly not much atmosphere around the route. Goody bag was the usual sack of flyers and oat bar, but like I said the race fee was justified by a high quality shirt and medal.

In short: the start was a bit of a sham - too crowded and no real organisation, i walked up the other side of the road and joined at the fornt though so not held up by slower runners. Overall race was challenging with some long hills, beat my PB though.

Overall race was challenging with some long hills, beat my PB though by just over a minute so overall happy with the day.

felt the T shirt was a nice touch and the free Lucozade always goes down well - will definately be competing in this one next year

In short: Shambolic start and uninspiring course. Very commercial.
In full: Positives first. Lots of parking and toilets. Nice race village and atmosphere here. Great to have free Lucozade at the start. Good Marshalls and water points on the route. Good medal. Great Tech-T in the right size. (However would rather have a cheaper race and no T)Lovely to have breakfast and shop after the race.

Sadly spoilt by a shambolic start. I only did this race because it was a Kent GP Race but feel really sorry for those who were really trying to be competitive. Impossible to get near the front and I was there early. If this is to continue being a GP race this does need addressing.

The pacers were ridiculous!!!! Why were they all bunched up in front at the start? Managed to get within sight of the 55min pacer ( my target). Most inconsitant pacing. Going like the clappers one minute and slowing later. Even stopped, put his board down to relieve himself behind a bush, disappearing completely for km's before suddenly re-appearing when he caught up again. He crossed the line sub 54min in the end....but glad I had a Garmin to rely on and not a pacer. I did achieve my target time by a considerable margin. Saw the 45min pacer board disgarded not long after the start?? If pacers are appointed they really do need to consitantly do the job!

Warm up??? What warm up??

Overall a pricey very commercial race with not a particularly inspiring route. The start needs to seriously be addressed for future races......especially if they are to be GP races. Would I do it again.....only maybe....if it was a GP race again, and the biggest motivater to enter would not be the race, but the breakfast and shopping after!

In short: Worse than last year
In full: I started at the back with my daughter this year and so avoided the crush at the front and the pacing issues.

Separate starts would have been better like previous years.

Parking and toilets were good, marshalls were great, as was the live music.

I'll be back next year as it is a local race.
