In short: Good friendly race and good value for money
In full: Almost entirely on-road, the Brinsworth 10k is a local race growing in popularity. It's not flat - factor in around 85m of climbing and descent, but it's an interesting course arranged as a single loop with two out - and - back sections.
The route crosses a major road twice at the same point; traffic is not stopped but there are plenty of marshalls.
The route isn't scenic, but it's a good value event.

In short: Great effort to keep this a friendly, not too serious race
In full: This is a challenging course, but unless you are putting yourself under pressure for a good time, it's a good mix of ups and downs. Marshalls were excellent and extremely supportive (apart from the guy reading his Kindle). Would be good to see more local runners - i hardly saw any from my club, or other local clubs for that matter, apart from Kimberworth who were well represented, and with this being on the doorstep I might have expected a few more.

I hope the race continues next year...I will be there

In short: Very friendly organisation
In full: The killer was the immediate small climb from the start- this certainly cleared the cobwebs.
An undulating course which was excellently and encouragingly marshalled.Traffic was present on roads but this was sparse and not of any consequence. Two water stations and an enthusiastic crowd on finishing. This event deserves better support.

In short: Good race - will aim to come back next year
In full: Scenery was not too good - but ok. The start was a little steep but there were a few downhills to make up for it around the course.

I enjoyed this and will certainly come back next year.

My one bit of feedback is that rather than a bottle of water at the 5k mark I would have preferred a cup of water at that point and the bottle at the end.

Shame the gala day was cancelled. But I do recommend the race.

In short: Not a bad race
In full: Was an ok day. Organisation good. Only real problem is the course, when exiting the field. With this bring my first race, didn't know what to expect and found my self stuck in an alley way ( at one point I was actually stood still) will hundreds of runners squeezed thru.

Next time I'll be at the front!

In short: An excellent effort and worthy cause
In full: My first 10k and a pleasent surprise. Plenty of entrants and plenty of support. Started by Howard Webb, who also ran and beat me by about a mile. Course a bit challenging for me with a nasty hill at about three quarters point, but not terrible.

Grumbles? A big bottleneck with barriers about 300m from the start. Took about a minute to get through from my point about two thirds back. If I was serious and going for a time, I'd have been cheesed off. They need to either get the barriers temporarily removed or change the course for next year.

In short: great course and fun atmosphere
In full: What a great run and very well organised. I looked at last years reviews about the barriers so I started at the front and got through them with ease.

Great atmos all round and well marshalled.

This is a race I will be returning to next year and at 45.05 mins I produced my PB so very happy

In short: I'm Melting!
In full: Well organised on the whole with plenty of marshalls, but as per another comment few minor gripes..take the barriers out near the start as instant bottleneck, and as it was such a hot day perhaps more water further along the route?
These are minor gripes though as very welcoming run, the gala itself looks excellent, and whilst the route is very "undulating" (I must look up what this actually means!) the locals along the route are very supportive
