In short: Suberb course and possibly the best marshelled race ever. In full: The whole event was great from start to finish. Thank you to all those involved. Date of review: July 16, 2011

In short: A remarkable variety of terrain over just 10k (ish!). A great race. In full: I hadn't realised that we'd all taken the wrong route through the woods until I read these reviews! So obviously hadn't spoilt things for me.
I found the organisation to be excellent with plenty of marshalls and police to help with directions and road crossings. I guess they just needed one more standing by the sign which 'moved'...!
The course itself was full of challenges with a tricky decent, a long flat and a killer climb. The scenary was awesome - view from the top (or summit!) was well worth the effort.
There are a few niggles reported in other reviews here, but there were plenty of smiling faces at the finish as far as I could see. Thoroughly enjoyable, hope it goes ahead again next year. Date of review: July 22, 2010

In short: Beautifully set offroad run In full: Starting from a village fete makes the whole day very community orientated. Then having a mix of fast downhill, steady flat canal run and then the monster climb upto the monument makes it a very challenging run. GREAT FUN! I will definitely be there next year to improve my up hill speed. Superb views from the top. Date of review: July 20, 2010

In short: I've never seen so many grown men cry, bleed and get lost in the woods.... Why weren't there any markers or marshalls!!!! Spoiled a great challenging course. In full: What a crazy race. I certainly wasnt expecting to be scrambling down a steep drop through brambles and nettles.....
...and then I realised that me and about 10 other runners had been sent the wrong way by a mis-placed sign. Annoying as this added another half mile of un-runnable terrain and shafted my time!
There were also several other cross roads and junctions with no marshall or signage....
This was the hardest 10k i have ever done - which is great - but dont take up the challenge if you dont want a scramble.... Date of review: July 20, 2010

In short: fantastic location, little more organisation needed In full: Love the route, changing scenery & the challenge of the down & up route. Interesting detour- sure it will be sorted for next year. I was fairly near the back at start of race & got really clogged up at the stiles- ended up walking a lot of the first bit until got to Chase wood just because of the number of people. Is there a route to miss the stiles on the Tors? just until everyone has started to get their pace. Despite the gliches, loved the raace. Great addtion to the carnival. Like the biscuit at the end! In full: A well balanced course: a long initial descent requiring concentration, and good flat 2 mile middle section demanding sensible pacing, a long climb back to pay homage to the Sherwood Foresters at the Memorial(as very appropriately mentioned by an earlier reviewer. 5 counties visible from here), and a fast run in back to the finish.
Yes it was more than 10k, but more scenery than you paid for! A map was available on the website and the route described as a 'testing', 'off road' course. Let's take some personal responsibility as participants. Signs are never permanent, and always open to tampering etc.
Well done to the organisers on their first attempt. Could do with a few more marshalls at key points next year? Date of review: July 20, 2010

In short: Ripped my legs out and only had the 10k at Sherwood Pines to do on the following day !! In full: The organisers did a brilliant job getting this together and making it part of the Crich Summer Fete so good for families too. Ok - so probably as a result of some devilment by someone, some of us ended up going the wrong way and yes, those nettles did sting but there we go. WELL DONE and please organise this again next year.
I am not used to fell running and it really was a monster hill going up to Crich Stand and whilst in some pain at the top – well, as I went by the monument and looked, was I really suffering ?
Not bothered about the ‘Goody Bag’ but whatever you do – keep the biscuits !! – thanks again.

In short: A challenging, fun race in a beautiful area. In full: This was my first race in quite a while, and I enjoyed it so much that it has motivated me to get my shoes out and start doing a bit more training! Comments: 1) Beautiful scenery all the way round. 2) Excellent friendly atmosphere before, during and after the race (the village fete was a real bonus - my kids and wife loved it!) 3) Marshals at road crossings, with lots of encouragement shouted by them. 4) Challenging course - ok, it was probably longer than 10k, but accurate distance is pretty irrelevant over terrain like that! 5) Loved the bit down through the woods...I did get slightly lost, but that was because I was blindly following the people in front of me...if I'd have been keeping my eyes open I'd probably have gone the right way! It was clear that this was a challenging off road course from the off...don't enter this kind of race if you are looking for a flat fast tarmac 10K...doh! 6)Long long drag up to the Monument...a real challenge...next year aim to run all the way and not walk it!
So, in short, I really enjoyed it, and will be back next year...thanks to the organisers...a lot of hard work put in, a real boost to the village fete! Date of review: July 20, 2010

In short: Made my legs ache for 2 days! In full: Really enjoyed it as a first run for months and first race for years! Tough course but tough is the only option in Crich!
Though some people clearly not happy about the very unfortunate problem with the sign at one particular point, it didn't phase me. Hey, it was sunny, the scenery was great and what's an extra half km matter when you are running so steeply up and down hill. This was never going to be a race to compare PBs on I wouldn't have thought!
As a local, this was a great addition to our village fête and to the community as a whole. Date of review: July 19, 2010

In short: Up Hill, Down Dale.......LOVED IT! In full: Yes there was a minor glitch with the signs, but for a first time event it was pretty smooth. The run itself was fantastic, scenery beautiful....so I didn't mind the extra mileage Date of review: July 19, 2010
