In full: Woodys Toonie Trot was a delight to be a part of. I found at times the route extremely challenging. The hill of 2 miles was super steep. The length of the grass was crazy long and tripping was a hazard. The race was one of the best organised events i have been a part of. Camping at the site of the race was perfect for me as i definitely wouldn't of wanted to drive home after. All in all a fab event that i will be taking part in again next year. Lovely medal to add to the collection too. Date of review: July 11, 2013
In short: Great mid week trail race In full: Organisers listened to the criticisms of last year and made this a true 10k. Really liked the medal.well organised. Really enjoyed it. If you live within a thirty mile radius, what is your excuse for not doing this race next year? Date of review: July 10, 2013
In short: What better way to spens an evening ! In full: Good fun race, well organised and I enjoyed it very much.Only one critisism.I made it 10.6k by my Garmin and I believe other people measured the same.Went all out with what I thought was half a kilometer to go only to find there was no finish where I expected it! In short: A fun mid-week race. In full: This is my third year running this event and this year was easily the most challenging.
I agree with the last review. I prefer a short sharp uphill then a more gradual downhill.
The marshaling was excellent and the event ran very smoothly although the start brief did say that there was no train which proved to be untrue. Didn't affect me though thankfully as i was about 1min slower than the guys that got held up. The 10k was more like 10.6k which I didn't mind too much. I'm sure others would of though!!!
I've already had a sneak preview of the course next year and it sounds better so I'll be back for my 4th outing. Date of review: July 20, 2012
In short: Low key, well organised race In full: Well organised and marshalled. Suicidally steep hill at 4 miles - the course had been reversed this year so you went down it, rather than up - I think I'd have preferred it the other way (some people - never happy!). Date of review: July 19, 2012
In short: cool evening local race, no better way to spend a wednesday evening In full: Being a small race it draws alot of the local club runners but this doesnt mean that its to its detriment. This was a very well organised race with a very good mix of terrain.
Its my first time here and was pleasantly surprised to see a fair sized hill as I came out of a corner at around the 3km point and looking at my garmin after i see my cadence hit a low of 62. This time the hill beat me after about 3 quarters of the way up, I will be back next year to seek revenge.
The real icing on the cake was the momento, Old Spice! i remember my Dad using it 30 years ago in the old white bottle. Made my missus laugh when i showed her, not so much when i liberated the contents - i love it.
thanks to Toonie Express for a great time and my first race that hasnt taken part on a sunday, and a first trial race at that. Date of review: July 21, 2011
