In short: Not a 10K but a good course In full: Cheap to enter but expensive to park and to use the loo's. Also the route was short. Real shame as i was on course to smash PB. If this was (and could easily be) a true 10K it would have real appeal despite the parking and toilet issues. Date of review: September 3, 2012

In full: I always appreciate a race being laid on and all the effort that is made and the marshals who give up their free time.Beautiful location, very pretty, reasonably organised. biggest disappointment for me was it wasn't a full 10K race and was really hoping for a PB. Had to wait 3 days before the results were available and still my club have not received our results. Date of review: August 30, 2012

In full: Lovely location, however, expensive to park and go to the loo! To cap it all the race was short 5.87 by my Garmin, and having spoken to others after the race they all said the same.(I also understand this is not the first time the route has been short) This really is bad news, I had nominated it as one of my Club Champs races, which will now be null and void. Really frustrating as I was on course to beat my previous PB. Also when I questioned the distance with one of the race organisers they really did not seem to be bothered and just said that she thought one of the signs had been taken down! Such a shame as it could have been such a lovely race, it will not grow unless they get the simple things right - like the distance!! Date of review: August 29, 2012

In full: I'm always appreciative of what it takes to put on races, but to discover the course was short after travelling a long distance and paying an expensive entrance fee (not to mention car park and toliets), requires an explanation from the organisers. Also, the extensive off road element was unsafe and unecessary. Date of review: August 28, 2012

In short: Could be much better In full: In short, the race was measured wrong and was no where her 10k. The route out was shorter than previous years but came back on the same route resulting in a much shorter race according to my GPS watch. The run along the ancient highway was unnecessary and could have resulted in serious injury. I have done this race a number of times as I live locally, but I would not have been happy if I had to travel to the race. Date of review: August 28, 2012

In short: Really badly organised In full: We went wrong within the first couple of hundred metres heading straight on instead of left. The ancient highway path bit was pretty dodgy, not sure why we couldn't use the Sandwich Bay estate road?? On the way back i followed the same route which we came out on, wrong again! In short: Nice run but could be a very nice run! In full: For a SEAA Certified 10k course to be 5.85 miles (my wife's Garmin) in this day & age of GPS technology is not good, everyone I spoke to had similar readings & that really needs sorting out. The turn round point could very easily have been moved further along the seafront to make up the distance. Pre race nerves coupled with liquid intake = lots of toilet trips, to have to pay 20p each time after putting a fair amount in the parking meter was also not so great, a couple of Portaloos would be a vast improvement. Also, the ancient path used for a fair portion of the run made the nice scenery disappear for me, I was too busy looking down making sure I didn't sprain an ankle, using the parallel road would have made the run so much more enjoyable. Having said all of that, it was a nice friendly atmosphere & a lovely setting, a very pleasant run with the above mentioned problems excepted. The old Citroen van selling home made refreshments is worth a mention too - it's outstanding! Addressing the easily surmountable problems could make this a truly great place to run, I hope they take the issues brought up here onboard because their enthusiasm was nice & I don't particularly like to criticise people who take the time & effort to organise races. In short: Disappointing as course was 9.3km In full: Small race and very flat so definite PB potential if the course had been measured properly. The error seemed to be at the start of the race as I reached the 4km marker when my GPS said 3.3km. From there on the course seemed accurate. The officials denied the error after the race despite several complaints - disppointing not to have received an apology. Date of review: August 28, 2012

In short: Nice scenary and Friendly but dissapointed not measured properly In full: I think this is a decent race for beginners, flat with friendly organisers and marshalls although charging for race, parking and toilets is a bit much. The real dissapointment was that it was way short of 10 k , my gps showed 5.8 miles, .4 miles short of the full distance, for those who dont worry about such things and just wanted a fun run this isnt such an issue but if you are looking for a pb or want to compare against other 10 k times this isnt great. In short: More of a fun run than a serious 10k, potential to be much better. In full: A small, friendly race set in a lovely part of Kent. Thank you to all the marshalls and helpers who gave up their time to make this happen. Really disappointed that the course was 700m short, made more confusing given the turning point could have moved backwards. Please sort for next year. Running on the Ancient Highway path/tractor tracks was unnecessary as the road was right next to it and the path was uneven and could easily turn an ankle. Nice touch to see the leaders run back passed you as I only normally see the back of them at the start! Date of review: August 27, 2012
