In short: I'm an Ultra Runner! In full: A superb day. 31 miles turned out to be closer to 37 after getting lost a few times! 37 miles is twice as long as I've ever done. Very pleased with everything - thanks to Rory and Jen and the others I met, namely Paul and Eddie. I knew it wouldn't be easy but it was really challenging in places. Possibly the hardest thing I've done but hugely rewarding. I ache a lot but I feel really, really good! Date of review: October 8, 2012

In short: Excellent course with top support. Rory and Jen put on a great event! In full: This would be excellent for anyone thinking about taking the leap in to ultra distances. Only one or two tough climbs and a nice finish outside the castle in Nottingham. Well marked overall. Organisation excellent and well marshalled and supported throughout. In short: A great introduction to the world of the Ultra run. In full: Being my first ultra I was apprehensive to say the least, however I need'nt have been. The organisation of this event was first class, coaches from Nottingham centre to the start, maps provided, a great route with some challenging undulations, friendly marshalls with nice goodies at check points. The finish was great with lots of support to encourage you up the hill to the finish. The medal provided is a great momento as is the Ultra race top included in the entry fee. Overall I think the Ultra race team did a great job and I will definetely be back next year. Date of review: October 10, 2011

In short: Brilliant organisation, tough course but very rewarding In full: My first trail ultra - after 32 previous road ultras of varying distances this has to rate as the toughest 50k I've every done but would I do it again? - you're damn right I would. Date of review: October 10, 2011

In short: Could not fault this race In full: Very well organised & friendly. Navigation was easy as the route was well marked. Undulating at times but mostly very runable. Generous refreshments at CPs. Good technical t-shirt at end. Ideal for a first time ultra but just as fun for experienced runners. Date of review: October 10, 2011

In short: What a day - but I wish I could read a map! In full: Beautiful sunny day, bit of cloud would have been nice, but would have ruined the scenery really.
Well organised, some markers were bit confusing/got moved. Got lost 4 times in all, but 3 of those we due to me talking to other people and not paying attention. So also did almost 33 miles in all.
Really well organised checkpoints every 10k. Water, cake, gels, flapjacks you name it. Took my own so had to carry, wish hadnt bothered now!
Some steep bits but nothing lengthy. Muddy in patches but considering the rain the night before incredible that more of the course wasnt ankle deep mud.
Agree finish of people eating and drinking in the summer sun was a bit cruel but they all applauded the finishers which was really nice and put a big smile on my face.
Thank you Rory and Jen for a great day out, see you again sometime soon. Was slightly apprehensive about my first Ultra but the organisation and the atmostphere put me totally at ease and I just enjoyed it from start to finish - bar the 2.5 hours drive home to Bristol that is.
