In short: A tarmac treat up and down quiet country lanes In full: A big thanks to the race director for letting us run when the race was full, I cannot thank him enough because we were all running for Cancer Research. My two kids both beginners thoroughly enjoyed the experience as did I having done very little running over the last few years. We all loved the glass we got at the end, and I enjoyed the beer, a nice touch to finish with. Date of review: September 8, 2015
In short: Well organised, friendly race! In full: Well organised as always, I think this is the 8th time I have run Wissey, last was in 2012, it was as good as it's ever been, great local club feel about it, nice course on country lanes, good value too. Marshals were very encouraging. I am sure I will be back. Date of review: September 7, 2015
In short: Very nice, fast-ish half marathon along country lanes. In full: Only knew about this as it was incorporating the British Masters' champs, but worth the journey. Low-key with less than 300 entrants, but great atmosphere well hosted by Ryston Runners. Course is pleasant, along very quiet country lanes. PB potential, although there are undulations so some people reckoned it was tricky to get pacing right. The "hill" at 8 miles was a long drag but very gentle (worth 15 secs/mile on my watch), as an idea. Would definitely do again. And free ale! Date of review: September 7, 2015
In short: PB Potential in the heart of Norfolk In full: First time I've raced Wissey for 3 years, as before a very well organised race. Route takes you along quite back lanes throughout the countryside. Memento this year was a glass with two barrels of real ale laid on at the end. What more could you ask for! PS: The race entry is a bargain! Well done to all the marshals for their encouragement and organisation. Date of review: September 6, 2015
In short: PB potential and free beer makes a perfect combo! In full: Fantastically well organised, Flat (therefore Fast) course along quiet roads in beautiful countryside. Nice momento (a branded half-pint glass), better still the 2 x 70 kegs on offer to finishers afterwards.
Definitely recommend this race to others, fast and definite PB course. Not too congested either with little under 300 runners.
Will be back for more....beer :) Date of review: September 16, 2014
In full: Love small and friendly races like this. My second Wissey HM knocking 2 mins off my PB (unchipped) and 11 mins off my first time round in 2010. Special thanks to Ed (Mr Motivator) and Mark from Fakenham for keeping my pace going in the middle stages! 1.45 next time guys!! Date of review: September 2, 2013
In short: Flat, that is not a hill at 8 miles people of Norfolk, and friendly race In full: Have run this twice and it is a very pleasant race. Well organised with good marshalling. Flat course which will definitely give a few a good PB. Quiet country roads so the occasional car & tractor is not a problem but means little support out on the run. However a good welcome back into the finish. Worth a look for anybody. Date of review: September 3, 2012
In short: Excellent course , very scenic with a PB potential In full: Having been running for 4 years and entering races within Norfolk, I had yet to give Wissey Half a try and I was certainly not disappointed. Excellent organisation, a delightful scenic course using all country back lanes, meaning I hardly saw a car! The course had a couple of climbs, but it is definetly a PB potential. Cost of the race was only £12 and all runners who completed got a given a bottle of cider. What do again! Date of review: September 2, 2012
