In short: Just superb! In full: Can't believe one review said this wasn't value for money. We got wine at 7 water stations plus food and drink at each one, a top tech t shirt, a pretty top medal, great Marshall's, superb organisation, a great atmosphere, a hog roast and glass of wine incl in cost plus amazing views off the North Downs Way (climb up was flipping tough though) and what a brilliant downhill finish. Some people should get lives! Date of review: September 16, 2015
In short: brilliant friendly, challenging, v expensive race In full: brilliant race - amazingly mixed field of runners. Don't think I have ever seen so many runners in fancy dress!! Downside - really really expensive: advertised as £43 but that is before VAT & shipping is added so a total of £47. They kept adding bits on like easy jet! Can't imagine what shipping is as nothing arrives in the post. Do emails need shipping??? The medal at the end is super duper-impressive but the tshirt far too large to be of use. Think the small size is for a small man definately not for a small female runner & would guess baggy on a medium woman. Shame - looks a great tech tshirt but not fitting added to my sense of a truely expensive run. That said, hog roast was good Is it a run worth doing? definately Was the run worth nearly £50? absolutely not.
In short: Brilliant Day In full: 4th time of running this.Best race of the year- fantastic organization, good wine every 2 miles and a brilliant down hill last mile. Marshalls excellent and friendly. Everyone was smiling and the post race atmosphere is brilliant. Well done ETL. Date of review: September 16, 2015
In short: Best. Race. Ever. In full: My second half marathon, and my partner's first. We hadn't trained as much as we should have (thank you school holidays!!) and were dreading the "undulations" but it was FAB! As previous posters have said, the scenery is spectacular. The marshals were so friendly and encouraging, the fancy dress costumes were hysterical (a pack of Blue Nuns, anyone?) but the best bit was certainly the frequent, and well stocked, wine stations! We had seven different wines to sample, with snacks, water, juice and Powergels at each station. Plus a loo at every one! There was live music, dancing, singing, laughing all around and everyone finished the race smiling. As a beginner, I'd say GO FOR IT - not once did I get the feeling that I couldn't go on, or hit the wall (although the sparkling wine may have had something to do with it!). It was a fun, fabulous day and I highly recommend it. Date of review: September 15, 2015
