In full: This was my first 10k as I'm building up to a half marathon. It's got a long hill climb, which starts off ok but then just keeps rising and my legs were a bit shot afterwards. The atmosphere was great though with the marshalls and runners who'd already finished cheering you on and giving you support. Would definitely do this again and it's made me sign up for another one a few weeks before the Half. Can't wait. I think I've got the bug! Date of review: August 16, 2011

In short: Those Deal Tri peeps know how to do it In full: Fab weekend away at Deal to run the race and swim the sea swim - both were fantastic. Well organised, great value for money and loads of lovely marshalls and organisers. What more could you possibly want apart from not such a big hill! We'll be back to do it all again next year! In short: At least i finished the course In full: It was a very hard day for me, got off to a great start, but when i got to the long hill, that was it, picked up a foot and ankle problem, and from then on just hobbled all the way to the finish, I think i can second to last but it was worth it. The atmosphere was great with everyone clapping the runners. I would defo do it again. Date of review: July 25, 2011

In short: A curate's egg of a race In full: First, the good points.Very good 10K course.Challenging 1st half through country lanes and several steep uphills just before halfway.Fast, flat return along the coastal path.
Good atmosphere at the start and finish and the marshalls were all very efficient.
Good fun run for children before the main race, with lots of encouragement from the crowd.
Not so good:
Toilets inadequate for a field of this size.Needs portaloos at the start/finish area.
1st and 2nd water stations are too close together (they almost merged into one).
The race follows the current trend of making runners collect their numbers on the day. While this saves costs,it also means that the organisers need to be prepared to deal with 400+ runners arriving within an hour so before the race. However, the length of the queue for numbers took about half an hour to get through, which combined with the queues for the toilets, meant no time for a warm-up.
