In full: First out door race, having built up to this only on treadmills. It was reasonably flat with only the few odd hills, the marshalling was great and very encouraging and the scenery was very nice for the majority. Being surrounded by others forcing themselves on when the pain sets in was great as I'd alloted a time of around 1 hr 15 mins, but came in just a few seconds over the hour. No threat to seasoned runners by a long way but very enjoyable, a lot better time than expected and a friendly crowd. Date of review: September 23, 2012
In short: Nice low-key race with not too much climbing and a wearable t-shirt. In full: Friendly race that combines some fast very runnable sections with only two or three short climbs. The section near the start is a bit congested as you run on the pavement up the A65, but once you've turned left down towards the canal things get much better. The marshals were good and encouraging and a goody bag containing fruit, chocolate, a drink and a nicely-designed, good quality t-shirt was very welcome. Would like to be back next year. In short: A good challenge In full: Despite wet weather, really enjoyed this race. A mix of woodland, canal, fields & road made for an interesting & varied course. Excellent marshalling & plenty of it too with lots of encouragement. A decent quality T shirt at the end - although my collection is outgrowing the wardrobe now; Would be nice to come up with something a little different? My first time at this race, but would deffo do again. It was reasonably flat, save for a short hill so a quick time is on the cards here.
In short: Marshalls made the race! Brilliant! In full: Brilliantly well organised race. Marshalls were very helpful every step of the way a brought along their support too... Even in the rain! Soaked through but a great run. Very clubby but friendly crowd... Defo recommend! Date of review: September 19, 2010
