In short: Good fun and nice weather In full: It's a good fast course although far from flat. (You do notice some of the long gradual inclines). Started early enough to be quite quiet on the roads. Very good value with t-shirt, drink and chocolate in goodie bag. Date of review: June 16, 2008
In short: Too hot for a PB! In full: Decent race. Well organised, despite being run on a fairly busy Sunday morning in Epsom. Very hot conditions meant that I ran out of water halfway round, another water stop would have been appreciated in a June race. Couple of medium climbs and a nice downhill finish! Still searching for that sub-50 PB... Date of review: June 16, 2008
In short: Too hot for Pb potential. In full: Even with the early start (0930) the heat meant that many runners were looking for shaded areas half way around. Marshalls were very supportive, but none of the town folk were to be seen. Very good value for £10 on the day entry. Date of review: June 16, 2008
In short: Very pleasant local 10k race In full: The race was well-organised, and although roads were not closed it was very well marshalled (thanks!). The course was reasonably flat although there was a long incline from mile 4 to mile 5 and a short but sharp rise near the end. Weather was great - sunny but not too hot. It was the second time I have run here and I was very pleased to do a PB, albeit by just a few seconds. Date of review: June 16, 2008
In short: A low-key, local 10k In full: This is the third year I've run this race and the organisation is getting better each year and the earlier start was an good.
It's actually really nice to run something that is simple and straightforward and free of event razzmatazz but two points I made last year still hold true - putting information such as race day instructions, route map online and the worst race t-shirt ever.
In short: Very good 10k run. Needed more water stations for very hot running conditions. Marshalls were great! Would do again next year. In full: This was my first run back after a nasty knee injury so I was looking forward to it. The radio station at the beginning made for an exciting build up and generally a friendly air. Marshalls were very good, and a very well organised race. Desperately needed some more water stations as it was a very hot one for running. Naf t-shirt though! Look forward to next year and a better time! Date of review: June 13, 2007
In short: Well organised, will do again, & enjoyable depsite being disappointed in not getting a PB! In full: Good event, no problems parking, well marshalled, just too bloomin' hot! Date of review: June 12, 2007
In short: Good but shame about mile markers In full: Good organisation, start/finish area and facilities. Mile markers a problem - slowed up after a supposedly sub-6 min second mile, more like 3/4 mile I think. Date of review: June 12, 2007
In short: Great organisation - apart from mile markers. In full: The best point - I do not think I have ever done a race where the quality and quantity of marshalls was better.
The worst point - I am not convinced any of the mile markers were in exactly the right place, and the one mile marker was definitely way out, which is annoying when one is trying for an even paced race.
Suggestion - could it be rerouted to spend more time on the more rural cycle track parts and/or making the drinks point not earler than half way?
Overall - worth doing if you live reasonably near, but not worth a long journey. Date of review: June 11, 2007
