In short: Flat run + for charity + nice folk but be careful for hazards! In full: There's lots to love about this run - the organisation was great (very quick email responses), good atmosphere, really flat quick course (only a mild rise & dip at turnaround) and it's for an excellent charity. However, the promenade was clearly open to the public which caused two problems I saw: 1) a runner got his legs tangled in a dog-lead & 2) the unfortunate pinch-point became a nightmare for an elderly couple caught between runners coming from both directions. There was an altercation & some physical remonstration.
My advice is to absolutely support this race, but treat it as a friendly group run on a Sunday morning as you will be one user among the other members of the public along the promenade. Date of review: October 24, 2014
In short: Let down by bad organisation In full: A poorly thought-out course with no PB potential due to the pinch point at the pier. I was almost taken out by an inconsiderate running going the other way. Choose another 10k. Date of review: October 9, 2014
In short: Great race... again! In full: This is my second year doing this race and once again, I was not disappointed. Great organisation, very nice route and (as with last year), great weather. Fantastic race for serious runners (serious PB potential) and for beginners alike.
Will I be doing it again next year? Absolutely. Date of review: October 5, 2014
In full: Great race! Easy parking and short walk to start. Good organisation. Lovely views for the race and its an out and back. Great medal and goody bag, mix of all abilities too. Will be back next year. Date of review: October 5, 2014
In short: Excellent race. In full: This was an excellent race, which may well end up being one of my favourite regional 10K races. Excellent PB potential as it is rather flat. Good atmosphere, especially along the seafront, with some lovely scenery as well. Good value for money, with a nice medal and some enjoyable goodies. Although I didn't achieve a PB, this was my first 10K race after a break of nearly a year, and my time exceeded my expectations, so I'm quite happy. I will definitely be doing it again next year. In short: A race for everyone In full: Two PBs in my two races here so yea I love this one. It has something for everyone, from beginners to experienced club runners, is really well organised by Rob & the team & is good value for money as well as raising money for such a good cause in the RNLI. Perhaps a few more loos but many thanks to everyone involved today. Date of review: October 7, 2012
In short: Will be back! In full: This was my first ever 'race' after only starting running less than 3 months before. Enjoyed the run, everyone seemed friendly. Wife and kids made to feel welcome at the start/finish waiting for me. (They enjoyed their bacon butties) Really enjoyed it and I will do it again. Date of review: October 12, 2011
