In short: Great fun... In full: I agree that the distance was short 7.8/7.9 by concensus. I'm not sure what went wrong - mile markers up to 4/5 miles were probably OK, after that no where near. Atmosphere friendly but not for the serious road runner. Great as a team event and you get to 'deal' with some of the horse fences. Rain held off for the race, so manageable underfoot. In short: Great muddy cross country fun In full: I did the 5-mile run, having only decided to go along the evening beofer. I'm glad I did - this was a fun race with a decent amount of mud and a water obstacle to enjoy. Only one downside - I was expecting there to be more of the horses cross country jumps involved from the description on the race website and was a little dissapointed on this score. Otherwise however it was fantastic and I will certainly do it again. Date of review: October 5, 2010

In short: Great fun, great scenery and a great big trophy! In full: Enjoyed the event as a five mile cross-country race, there were fewer horsejumps in the first two miles than I expected (just one I think) but the ones coming after three miles were a real challenge on tired legs and I really needed the hay bales to get a leg up. As an extra bonus I was part of the winning Mens team for which we got a rather large silver gilt cup. Date of review: October 4, 2010

In short: Mud and giggles In full: The least serious event I've ever entered. Great fancy dress, fun atmosphere, lots of laughs. Gently undulating over the horse trials course in the Badminton estate, including the horse jumps. Great organisation and friendly marshals. Plenty of water stops so great for beginners too. In short: Disappointing event - the 9 mile option struggled to get to 7.5 miles & the lack of jumps / water made for a very lack lusture attempt at an event - this was more like a leisurely jaunt through the Estate In full: Had so much potential but just failed to provide in pretty much all areas. Only one marshal seemed to interact with the runners, the rest could have been done away with by just putting directional signs up for all the good they did. The 9 mile option failed big time bareley scrapping in with 7.5 miles. As for the jumps which is what sold the event to me - I foolishly believed the B Horseless would be just like the actual horse event with straw bales to help us traverse some of the bigger fences / jumps. To find there were only 3 (I believe) with straw, and three which required a step over / break in stride was a big dissapointment - surely there are more than this for the horses or is the main event that rubbish (I think not!) I was particularly looking forward to the water ones and expected some deep water coldness. To find I was getting my ankles & at a push my calfs wet - Gutted!
On a (small) plus - good choice in music whilst we were waiting for the start / catching our breath at the end.
Unless there are some significant sweeping changes I would not recommend this event to anyone looking for a "mudfest" (or to get dirty and wet) - sorry! Date of review: October 3, 2010
