In short: nice but dull
In full: I am sure I have done Brighton half before and that it was hilly and interesting. This route - not so much. Great crowds, good organisation (though some parts were narrow and congested. I agree with previous comments about more water than lucozade is needed. Goody bag - v average. Truely fabulous medal. My oh my it was boring. Straight. Flat. Dull. Have I mentioned the excellent medal?

In short: Boring seafront run. nice supporting crowd though
In full: The course was a bit boring, lucky there was a good cheer crowd to show their support. The race is expensive and I feel that with 10,000 plus runners they could put the price down a bit.

In short: better but improvements still needed
In full: although i said i would not do this race again due it being poorly organised the last few years it fitted perfectly with my marathon training this year. lovely course with a great crowd and a day by the sea, yes improvements have been made i got my bag straight away and the finish with 2 helpers to each section last year i waited 15 mins and jumped over the barrier to get my bag in the end.
the start does need re-thinking the baggage is at the end of the drive so runners and watchers who have dropped their bags off have to walk back and fight the runners trying to get to the baggage area, maybe a one way in one way out system is needed ???
might be back next year.

In short: love this race but a shame there wasn't water available at 8 miles as advertised
In full: this race definitely has pb potential (sea breezes permitting!) and the crowds and marshalls are fab and do Brighton proud. It sounds like a little thing but we'd told there would be water available at 8 miles and there was only lucozade - far too concentrated for me at this stage in a race and I ended up running the second half very dehydrated. I also struggled to squeeze any water out of the pouches available at the other stations.

In short: Beautiful scenery and fast course, organisation fine
In full: Yes, the course was long in 2012 but they almost certainly got it right this time and it was a beautiful and fantastically well-supported run in the sunshine.

The Brighton course is fast. The climb at the beginning slows people down but at the turn you have a long down hill section followed by the flat, on Sunday this meant enjoying a strong tail wind. The problem for PBs was that at the final turn you suddenly hit a gale.

People complaining about it being too long again might not understand (a) how courses are measured and (b) how Garmins record distance.

All courses have a tolerance of 0.1% over-distance to ensure they qualify for records and that deviations in runners' routes do not put them under-distance. No under-distance course can qualify for records so the bias is always towards very slight over distance.

Secondly, Garmins and GPS watches simply do not record distance accurately. Runners World has covered this well as has the New York Times. If there are any turns on the course you will lose accuracy. They are a useful guide to pacing but not a reliable measure for distance.

Well done Brighton

In short: Really enjoyed this race, weather was great for Feb and really helped towards the good atmosphere. Organisation appeared to work well, and the park and ride ran like clock work.

In short: Well organised, great atmosphere and good course
In full: My second time of running Brighton half and thought a few niggles from last year had been sorted (it seemed like the course had been widened it most places so there was less congestion than last year although there were still a few points which were very narrow).

There's always great support on the streets, the mashalls and volunteers are fantastic and it's a picturesque course running virtually all along the seafront.

Highly recommended for a spring half marathon.
