In short: Fairly fast, scenic and fair organisation In full: I love running this race, I have relatives living nearby so know the limitations of parking and got dropped off, I also knew how to get to the venue and start but previous grumbles about lack of signage is relevant.
It goes around an area I used to know well and I did my all-time PB there in my prime of running about 16 or 17 years ago so I like the course.
Water stations are not necessary in cool conditions at this distance.
T shirt was OK.
Only negatives for me are: Not seeing a Start line or hearing that we were off. Having to stand and queue in the cold for the tshirt and a bottle of water (it is necessary at the finish). No clock at the finish NO BLOODY RESULTS ON THE WEBSITE (FOR AT LEAST 3 DAYS). Date of review: November 24, 2010

In short: Disorganised, unclear start and finish let this potentionally good race down. In full: The start of this race was disappointing, it was difficult to see that actual start line and no instructions (loud enough) were given, therefore if we hadn't seen people moving we wouldn't have known the race had started. The course is pleasant enough but running into a carpark (with moving cars and people walking into the path of the runners) at the end with no clear directions into the stadium made it really hard to focus on the finish. Would not do this again unless the marshalling and organisation was much improved. Date of review: November 23, 2010

In short: Pleasant 10k run In full: I live nearby so I knew where it was and could get there and away with very few hastles. Some parking assistance for people coming from afar would have been an idea. A few portaloos at the start line might also have been good.
Nice scenic course, pleasant countryside with rolling hills, properly signposted and good surface the whole way round and polite and considerate behaviour from the few drivers on the course. Likewise, much praise for the police and officials for holding up the cars as we crossed the road towards the end.
Very little on-course support but it was a cold day and you cannot blame the organisers if the miserable locals don't want to come out and cheer. Surprised about the absence of water stations, but it was quite cold and it was only 10k so this was no problem for me personally.
Good to see the St Johns Ambulance people everywhere, doing a great job as ever, shame they get so little recognition. Stadium finish for last 100 metres was really good and a quality t-shirt to go home with, but where was the timing clock at the end and where are the online results?
I would definitely do it again, but I might possibly feel differently if I lived further away. Date of review: November 23, 2010

In short: Everyones being negative so I thought I'd say I enjoyed it and ran a pb. Its a local 10k not the great north run and the facilities/ organisation are what you should expect. why do you need water stops when its 7degrees and its only 10k? Date of review: November 22, 2010

In full: This is not the best 10K out of the Essex autumn events. The organisation is quite lacklustre, the marshals were sparse and offered little motivation and the final mile and a half is through quite a drab part of town. But on the plus side the majority of the course is along scenic country roads, the stadium finish was a nice touch and not a bad t-shirt as well. Still, this could be a lot better than it is. In short: Its ok - with some oddities In full: Run this one before and didn't enjoy it, but came back this year and was pleasantly surprised. The course is ok with some nice country lanes and the odd slope or two, though the last mile back is bit urban. The odd start of 2pm is due to the neighbouring football pitches which host much of the local sunday morning football. Facilities aren't great, but the club house is fairly large (if crowded). Its a bit of a trek to the start, but at least you finish in the right place. Tshirt was ok this year, but no water was a bit unforgivable. Date of review: November 22, 2010
