In short: ace race In full: Really great race, thoroughly enjoyed! well organised (but a bit too early in to the start pens if your nerves make you need the loo!) Great goodies and finally got a race tee that was the right size (small goes before I finish usually.) The course was interesting, the bands were good, the water/powerade stops were well timed and the atmosphere was very good! My only criticism is that there was a lack of bands between mile 6 and 9, and I personally have never considered opera singers "uplifting" particularly not when they just speak to people in the time between one line and the next! Not annoying enough to stop me running it again but something I don't think the organisers need to bother with! Date of review: October 30, 2011

In short: Great quick race, lots of people and dodging, not enough toilets! In full: Great flat race on the Portsmouth Coast. Very busy though, and I missed my wave due to queuing for the toilet (!) so I had to dogde through lots of people. It had all thinned out by 10K though. Would do it again. Date of review: May 8, 2011

In short: Good organisation - fast course if you start off in the right spot In full: Value for money - I got a charity place for this and had to fundraise so not sure on entrance fee and cant comment on Value for Money but I was really happy with this.
Crowd support - I race quite often and thought the crowd support here was the best Ive ever had - at some points of the race(around mile 6) the crowd were a little too enthusiastic and it would have been better for runners if they the crowd could have been further back form the course.
Drink stops - these were good but I dont know why bottles were given out instead of cups??? Seems like such a waste and its not too environmentally friendly.
Course - In terms of the course its fast and flat but if you're a serious runner you MUST get there early and in the right corral otherwise you end up sitting behind groups of people running three abreast chattign about the weather.
Goody bag - Very good! Nice medal, good t-shirt (but not a wicking one).
Definately recommend it and would run it again! Date of review: November 10, 2010

In short: It is the longest race I have taken part in. The course was very good and the supporters kept me going throughout. Good information was received leading up to the race, cant wait to do it again next year! Date of review: November 4, 2010

In short: Sooo flat! Perfect. In full: Really nice atmosphere with huge amounts of people, great charity tents (free coffee and snacks from the Macmillan one - I did fundraise for them!), nice racing goodies to buy before hand from a Nike tent, and a really really flat course - even the weather was nice, so it was pretty perfect. Having so many runners on the course is irritating, in that you have to weave through people at times, but the amount of people is also why it has such a good atmosphere, so you can't really complain. There were more than enough water stations, loads of people cheering as you ran, and the course even had toilet stops. Nice good bag, with a lovely medal. Nothing to complain about really. In short: Great PB potential! In full: First time I have done the Great South and I really enjoyed it. Lovely flat run, which is definitely an opportunity for a PB. Really liked the BUPA booster station at mile 9, just what you need to give you that extra bit of motivation to go the last mile.
Thought the organisation was excellent considering there were so many people and having experienced a bit of a shambles at the Brighton half earlier this year!
The only downside for me was that the first 3 to 4 miles were pretty quiet in terms of crowd support. Would have been nice to see a few more supporters in the early stages to help get you motivated. Havin said that, the second half was fantastic for support!! Will definitely do again next year! Date of review: October 29, 2010
