In short: Being my first race I wasn't sure how these things worked, but it was all very clear with instructions sent via e-mail. Extremely friendly people who were happy to chat, answer questions, and even give a few tips!

In short: Very well organised club from a friendly bunch keen to help. I decided to enter the day before paying on the day, enjoyable race despite the conditions although it did stay fairly dry during my run although windy but this is the most easterly point .

In short: Excellent PB opportunity
In full: The race start was in and around a small park just off the seafront which kept all the runners congregated together. There was a good mix of Alcoholics and Tramps too to make the morning more interesting but don't let that put you off, it's Great Yarmouth after all!

The race itself is well supported by the local running community and seems to attract a plenty of other runners from afar as they are attracted to this unique seaside resort. It's fast and chip timed and the route takes in the pleasure beach but remember it's the middle of October so it's not well supported. Downsides? 2-5k takes you round the the industrial area of the town but otherwise it's well worth running for a fast time in an interesting town.

In short: A great beginner's race, and super flat for getting that PB. Registration was poor, and needs to be improved. Lots of good marshals & police support - and glorious weather!

In short: Flat course but can't quite put my finger on why I didn't enjoy it more!
In full: Firstly thanks to all the marshals for giving up their day. There was a few problems picking the numbers up from the hall there was a slightly bizarre singular queue which involved a further trip to register for the NCC then a further queue to pick up the chip. There was a reasonable runners village, I think I would have enjoyed it more had I not had to walk back and forth to the car which was a fair distance. The first 5k are run through an industrial estate, the second 5k are better as they run along the sea front. It was flat all the way around and in places support especially in the run in. All in all it was ok I'd do it again as I live in Norwich, I spent some time running next to someone who was not local, would they have thought it worth the travel, that's debateable.

In short: A good race let down by poor pre-race organisation
In full: The pre-race instructions included a map with very few road names on which made identifying the race HQ a little tricky. Once in the hall the process of collecting race number and timing chips was shambolic with one large disorganised queue and the added requirement of having to tell 'the lady in pink' whether or not I lived in Norfolk (which they should have known from when I entered online!!!) As a result of all of this the race start was delayed by 5 minutes.

The race itself was fine, a good flat, fast course, much of which was along the seafront so there were a good number of spectators out as it was a nice sunny day.

Race finish was also well organised but it would have been nice to have had more than just a bottle of water at the end.

In short: Needs much better pre-race organisation
In full: A few simple changes would make all the difference: 1 - have a list of instructions for people arriving at the hall which says (1) get number, (2) get chip. 2 - put the surname categories ON THE WALL UP HIGH instead of on the desks, so people can see which queue to join instead of milling about aimlessly, clogging the place up. 3 - have some floor walkers to explain to people what's going on. The race was delayed due to queues to collect numbers, chips etc and with better organisation it could have got away on time. Otherwise a good race, slightly spoiled as always by Great Yarmouth drivers who decide to ignore the brave marshalls and drive on the course regardless.

In short: A must for PB hunters, like Berlin!
In full: A great day and beautiful scenery with half the race down the promenade with a full view of the sea. Very good marshals and organisation perfect. A 10K PB made my year! I spent the weekend in a B&B so I could relax before the race and afterwards in the pub...I would recommend that approach! Unusual momento of a miniature plastercast running shoe.
