In short: No problems, fairly dull urban route In full: Did it in 2013, but there's no option for that. Route is pretty dull, would be a lot prettier to head north into Epping Forest rather than south into Walthamstow, but then it wouldn't be the Borough Run. Mostly flat, bit of a climb towards the end. LOTS of road crossings, and while police and marshalls do their best to keep things moving, it is entirely possible you'll need to stop and wait and points.
No changing facilities, rest of organisation was as expected. There are a lot of complaints from earlier years about a lack of marshalling and people getting lost - didn't see any sign of that this year, so I think they've sorted that out.
Basically I thought it was pretty average - nothing wrong with it, but nothing to really recommend it. I'll do it again if I'm still local, but wouldn't travel for the sake of it. Date of review: April 8, 2013
In short: Did not enjoy at all In full: I'm afraid that I didn't enjoy this run at all. There wasn't many people running, none of the roads were closed, some of the parts of the run were around housing estates and for some reason the whole run seems like it is on a slow incline. Over all I would not recommend this run to anyone it is not a enjoyable run at all. Date of review: May 2, 2011
In short: 10K great fun but got lost! In full: It was a memorable experience getting totally lost on the 10K. Got lost with some lovely gentlemen, though, and I guess I wouldn't change it for the world. All rather hilarious if you think about it. =)Thanks, Guys! Seriously, race just needed more signs. I think that the half was much better organised. Date of review: March 28, 2011
In short: The marshals were missing at some point and some of us got lost.Very easy points you could find them and in a couple of tricky ones there were none of them. The miles signs..I am not sure if they were accurate, maybe I am being melodramatic but it was Date of review: March 28, 2011
In full: A great local course with friendly helpful marshalls. Missing a marshall at Hainault Road, around 7 miles, which could have been tricky for non-local runners. Will definitely do it again next year, I had a great day Date of review: March 28, 2011
In short: Poorly marshalled In full: Half the 10k field got lost because there were no marshalls or signs at a crucial turning point. Instead there was a marshall on a straight path to tell us to keep going straight. Complete waste of time and money. I heard this happened last year as well. The half marathon had all the help and looked fairly well organised - the 10k was practically forgotten. Date of review: March 28, 2011
In short: Nice local race with a lot of potential for years to come. In full: The half marathon had just about the right nimber of marshalls, and they were all VERY helpful, encouraging and friendly. Maybe one more water station would have been nice, but this is a small event, so you SURELY know what to expect. For a runner to complain of 'not enough toilets' in a race that starts in a forest is quite frankly bizzare! Anyone who thought there were not enough marshalls should VOLUNTEER to help next year and help support a small, local event rather than just put it down. It is a FUN RUN, stop whinging about your PB potential etc. Will definitely come back, or maybe help out, next year :-) Date of review: March 27, 2011
In short: Great organisation, flattish course, great marshalls and all for charity! In full: The organisers have clearly lifted their game on this one - great marshalls and signage, police on hand to stop the traffic, plenty of water stations and a mostly flat course (tbh there seemed to be more downhill than up!). The only drawback is the rather dull course with almost no local support. But i might give it another go next year, im happy to support the smaller local races. and as for the toilets - no race provides enough toilets. be prepared. Date of review: March 27, 2011
