In short: A nice route and enjoyable event
In full: I like the route as it is challenging and fun (aided by the ice this year). I wonder whether the start and finish could be at Loseley? I think it is quite expensive for a non-standard distance.

In short: My first hog, but, bah, not 8.2 miles, that's not what I wanted to hear, I thought I'd gone under 6:30 a mile, was well chuffed. Oh well. Will do better next year.

In short: Pre-Festive Frolic
In full: I always enjoy this pre-festive frolic! All that was missing was the snow! .. shame it was not the weekend coming as the snow surely is!!! ... back to the race ... as usual it was all that it has lived up to over the years ... undulating and challenging. I am sure that hill is getting longer or am I just getting older!. The splendour of this eace far outweighs last years mug.

In short: Good but point needed tweaking
In full: This is a nice race, with a good tough course and good organisation. The support is good and the finish is in a nice setting, supported by a nice cool down walk back to the start.
However a couple of points let it down.
Last year, there were not enough loos, leading to delays and the water ran out before some runners had got to it, points which were addressed very quickly by the organisers on the website. As I was affected by both of these, I thought it would be fair to give them another shot.
I don't do races for the momentos or medals, but to get a mug with last year on it is a let down.

In short: Great race, fantatsic organisation and a hill that is not as bad as the hype
In full: Excellent race, but clearly not the 8.2miles it claims - more like 7.88. Well done to the organisers for making it all run like clockwork.

In short: thoroughly enjoyable run, lots of ups and downs!
In full: shame about the poor 'trophy' at the end of the race, my first Hogs Back run - the 51st and I was disappointed to receive a 50th anniversary mug (mugged off or what?!!) a medal would have been far more appreciated.

In short: naughty but nice!
In full: Those cheeky organisers! they have the audacity to organise a brilliant race, superb marshalls, cracking weather, prompt start, fantastic finish and then they sneak in last year's leftovers with a mars bar. If thats the only grumble then i'll take it, i suspect the race may not be 8.2 miles but who cares? its no ordinary race and, like XC you are only competing against the course and other competitors not a fixed distance so its kind of irrelevant. My second go at this one and i think they have it spot on- top marks.
(Who wants a medal anyway? i have a drawer full of the clanking things).

In short: I love this race!
In full: It's my third year in this race and every year it's well run by friendly and very capable people. This year was made a bit exciting by the weather - who'd have thought that the road from the A31 to Compton would be a skating rink?

Well done to the organisers for getting it right yet again. See you next year.

In short: Same as usual....
In full: One of the most dependable raccs on the calendar in that you can guarantee the course measurement will still be wrong (has it ever been 8.2 miles) and there will be a crappy memento - last year's mug leftover, or plastic medal withh a pig sticker - I'd be happy with neither.
