In short: Muddy and slippy but worth it In full: Weather made for tough conditions, but that made it all the more enjoyable.
Great venue, the walk to the start is perfect for a warm up and no more than 5 or 10 mins.
Fantastic marshalls who were supportive and cheerful, even in the pouring rain. Good organisation although feel they missed a trick in not having hot food/drinks stands at the Boys Club - supporters would have appreciated it.
The ladies t-shirts are tiny - even the XL - not all lady runners are skinny minnies you know!
Otherwise, brilliant and hope to be back next year, commitments permitting. Date of review: December 14, 2011
In short: A great muddy splash around a lovely park In full: I loved this event. It was very wet and muddy, but the course was good, marshalls excellent and admin great. It was my partners first event and she got a 59.30; now sheis buzzing for the next one Date of review: December 13, 2011
In short: Wet, Muddy, challenging but loved it. In full: Second year in a row I have done this one and liked it even better this time. It poured with rain, it was muddy, wet, wild and windy but amazing fun. Glad that the father christmas who went went slip sliding along on his backside by the bridge was ok, sorry for laughing but it was funny :-). Will be back next year. In short: A mudfest but well worth it In full: Really well organised race with a really good atmosphere. Course conditions were tough as it was wet and windy and underfoot it was very muddy in parts. The guys at Tatton did a great job marking out all the hazards, roots etc.
Good support at the finish and nice medal.
Definitely one for the race calendar next year. Date of review: December 11, 2011
In short: Great organisation and atmosphere, loved it! In full: This is our second year doing the Yule Yomp. Last year it was a winter wonderland, this year was a complete mudathon.
Loads of rain and mildish weather meant that the course was pretty muddy and slippery in lots of places which made it hard going, especially uphill though there was a fair amount of track / road. Course was lovely, showing off the best of Tatton park.
Organisation was good, loads of road signs for drivers, plenty of Marshals, timing chips in race numbers, well-marked course (though the distance markers were off) and very smart medals and goody bags (with Raisin Bread!) at the end.
Atmosphere was great. This is not a small race, there were around 900 runners but it felt very friendly and everyone seemed pretty cheery. Nice to see lots of dressing up too.
Overall, hard course due to the weather but we all loved it, this is fast becoming our favorite event. Date of review: December 11, 2011
In short: Great atmosphere and scenery In full: Well organised, fun and friendly atmosphere and a scenic and varied course. Special thanks to the marshals standing in the cold, the band and the running santas (etc)! Date of review: December 12, 2010
In short: pity about the freezing fog but thats winter running In full: Really well organised. Ground was frozen and the freezing fog meant you couldnt enjoy the glorious scenery. I imagine in milder weather it would be quite muddy. Lovely atmosphere, a great first time race. Date of review: December 12, 2010
