In short: Well organised hill fest
In full: I really must start training for these things! Undulating = long slow hill for what felt like the first 3-4 miles and then a massive killer hill about 8 miles in (plus a few others on the way). Despite that and the awful weather I sort of enjoyed it. There was good camaraderie at the back as we struggled up the hills with lots of encouragement from the marshalls at the plentiful water stations. Traffic not ideal but what can you expect for £12. Bonus to get a t-shirt and lovely quality medal (I was so slow they'd actually run out of t-shirts by the time i finished but a helpful volunteer promised one would be posted to me!) Overall it was hard but a good sense of achievement at the end and a nice flat finish on the seafront with lots of supporters.

In short: Challenging
In full: Undulating and hilly is the correct description. I remembered it as flattish apart from the après Corfe climb; how wrong I was, the hills were cheeky for the first part as well.

A t-shirt this year, as well as the medal, was a nice surprise for this bargain half.

Traffic a small irritation, rather than a big problem.

In short: Hard n hilly but fun!
In full: Really enjoyed the race, was scared of the hills but managed a personal best - hurrah! chip times would be an added bonus :0) Thanks to all the marshalls, weather was pants...although I was happy to see the rain!

In short: Could do better
In full: Obviously the weather had an impact on the scenery, however I now the area and on a sunny day it would be stunning. A tough course though, no chance of a pb, unless its your first race. Chip timing would be good, even if it meant making the race slightly more expensive. Also runners coming in on the A351 from Herston were swapping sides of the road, if it had been busy that could have been a nightmare. Overall an average race, I'll be back though because its such a beautiful place.

In short: Wow toughest half I've done to date!
In full: I was expecting a hard race but this was hard core, hill after hill after hill, but well organised and marshalled by some very supportive people, thank you! It was a bit wet and windy but preferable to the heat for me at least. Definitely not a PB course but I set a respectable time and was pleased overall.

In short: Another fantastic Swanage Half !!
In full: Firstly a big thank you to every single marshal out in the rain today, not an especially pleasant job but you’re vital to a safe and successful event and your encouragement during the miles is really uplifting.
It was a wet race but I enjoyed it more than the blazing heat last year. I’m sure the cooler conditions helped me knock a few seconds off my time. A new Half PB for me so I’m chuffed.

I ran this year with my hubby and he said it was the best Half he’s completed; mind you he loves a hilly route as it keeps him interested and challenged. Personally, I feared the hilly stretch after mile seven but somehow this year it didn’t seem quite so bad. A real plus with this course is the amount of drinks/sponge stations available.

Also loved the paperweight memento, a real treasure!
