In short: Interesting and unusual
In full: The Fire Service College is where fire persons from all around the world come to train to tackle emergencies of all kinds. Set in a disused airfield, there are burnt out buildings, cars, aircraft, you name it. There is also no shelter, so when the race was run in a Biblical storm it was sink or swim. At the end of the first lap I was tempted to pretend I was running the 5k fun run but decided to get my money's worth. At one point on the course the wind was so strong that my trailing leg was blown into my leading leg and nearly tripped me, while at another point I had two runners behind me sheltering from the wind, who had the nerve to come out and overtake me when I turned out of the wind. Still, it's a potentially great PB course, full of interest, well organised and if the only complaint is a lack of showers at the end, well that's not too bad.

In short: A good, fun race over a fast course (when it's not apocalyptic weather).
In full: Well organised, nice heart warming atmosphere and what would have been a PB making course... I waved any chance of a great time goodbye on the 3rd mile as I ran in to the wind and rain on the motorway section. Brutal. Repeated on the 2nd lap, too.

In short: Well organised
In full: A well organised event with good facilities. The lovely cakes at finish were very welcome in what were the worst weather conditions ever. Very enthusiastic race director!

In short: Wind and rain but a good event
In full: The weather conditions were horrendous (especially running up that bloomin "motorway" section) but this was a well-organised and friendly event which on a calmer day would definitely offer PB potential. Planes cars and lorries scattered about make for interesting "scenery"!

In short: Understand what it's for - raising specific money - and it's great. Excellent changing facs too!
In full: This is a race for a specific reason and it just works. Today's race took place in horrendous conditions - by which I mean proper comedy 'look at those fools' stuff - and none the worse for it. The marshalling is fine and encouraging, the course is clear enough (as in 'Clubby but welcoming newcomers') and the facilities great. Superb tea 'n' buns and knock-down prices aftewards. Good cause, good race, decent organisation. No frills or fuss, just footwork.

In full: Good mix of runners from the very quick looking for a PB to the locals supporting a good cause. The young marshals who looked very smart in their uniforms didn't add a lot by merely pointing out the very obvious route. They looked more bored than the dummies lining the route (real dummies, not spectators!) And why bother with handing out a plastic bag with a piece of paper in it saying I did the run? Mine went in the bin I'm afraid. A pat on the back and a 'well done' would have been better.

In short: Nice race for all runners, well worth the trip.
In full: I know the event was put on in aid of charity but something other than a empty plastic bag might bring the punters coming back in future years. The course was not adequately distance marked and finish was poorly identified. overall could

In short: Fast, flat race
In full: Excellent race - well organised, flat, traffic-free. Goodie bag was empty, but I don't need another cotton t-shirt and it was a charity event.
Only minor gripes are lack of km markers and the 'dummies' cheered more that the marshals!

In short: oilrigs helicopters and a deer a truely unique race
In full: the route was on a old airfield now used to house the firefighters college the route was flat and fast it could of done with a few mile markers and a better goody bag but overall a very good race
