In short: Phew
In full: Did anyone mention it was a bit warm? The organisation was generally good; the atmosphere up the hill and through the village encouraging, as people turned out for the accompanying Fayre. I can echo the comments on the congested finish, the inconspicous mile markers (expected km markers!), and great sense of achievement.

In short: Very hot again in 2010
In full: Very hot in 2010, however, due to good organisation with a number of water stops and friendly locals providing garden sprinkler showers just survived the 30C sun.

Well organised event and family enjoyed the Feast & Fayre while I ran.

The hill is near the start so not so bad. Would recommend this local event.

In short: Well organised and well supported but unbelievably hot!
In full: Well organised race, lot's of helpful stewards and friendly locals (at least a dozen hosepipes to help hot runners). The only thing that would put me off having another go is the heat - the back roads and farm track were oven hot.

Very hard work but very rewarding.

In short: Hot and Hilly
In full: This is the 2nd time that I have done this race. It has a great atmostphere. Thank you to all the people with their hose pipes fantastic. Plenty of water but my god was it hot didn't worry about my time today just wanted to finish. Might be one of my slowest races but it was to hot to care......many thanks to all the marshalls that stood out in the heat :) Will be back next year. Lynn

In short: Nice unpolished run in brilliant atmosphere
In full: Have a soft spot for Horndon due to family connections but the start could be better organised and if possible started a little earlier due what are often very hot conditions. The course itself is by its very nature hilly and the first down and back hills is a killer. Once up the hill you complete a two lap round and back before heading off on to the final trail through the local farm. The heat was pretty bad this year but the three available water stations was pretty well placed (Thanks also to all those family who got their hoses out). Not too sure about the need for a single file finishing line but didn't effect me.

In short: Scorchio!!!
In full: Hot but enjoyable. Cheeky hills added to the challenge. Fair number of villagers out with a cheer and a welcome hose. Very welcome water stations. Again agree with others, better organisation at the start and end required. Mile markers were poor and confusing, just sprayed on the road. Maybe I'm maybe unfair here, but when I questioned a marshall on how much further there was to go he didn't know!! One last comment, £2 to park on a field, could runners not pay £1 or £1.50 even??

In short: Hot but great hill fun
In full: Great fun run through the aptly named Horndon-on-Hill. Good route and great crowd, with many local residents armed with hose pipes and sprinklers which helped. Course was a mix of road and trail. Three water stations was just enough, marshalls were great, shame the mile markers were just spray paint on floor but hey. Overall one of my fav races, will be back next year

In short: Good village race
In full: This is my one of my usual races I enter. Once again, very hot but nothing unusual. Maybe move the start time abit earlier. Regarding the start. 1)It needs to be bigger and 2)Start on time rather than wait for the mayor to turn up. Again, proper mile markers required. My main gripe was the 2 lap circuit especially on lap 2 when the faster runners have to duck and dive through the slower competitors. There should be marshalls telling those on lap 1 to stay on the left and lap 2 on the right.
In all, a good village race, friendly rivalry, but organisation needs improving.

In short: Good - but need to work on finish organisation
In full: This is a great race for family particpation due to the tie up with the Fayre. Weather was extremely hot and I am very grateful for the people that came out with hoses. For me, the only thing that let the race down was the finish. Inadequate crowd and traffic control meant that you could not overtake in the finishing stretch, as there was only single file space.
