In short: a good off road run, could be better - no ice In full: good course, not as tough as i expected. apart from a bit of bottle neck for 1st km, a good off road run. some good hills to get the heart pumping. brought own drink, so no water stations not an issue. smoothly organised, well marshalled. good t-shirt.
agree with other comments re dog, jesse's owner shouldn't been allowed to run unless it was on its lead. Date of review: January 25, 2011
In short: Better name than race In full: Registration was akin to immigration at a third world airport when I was asked for ID and quizzed on date of birth. No one apart from the front row of runners could hear the briefing - so please use some of the profits to buy a new loudhailer. Agree with other comments on lack of water, loose dog, runners with iPods etc. However, marshalls were very friendly and plastic cup of water at the end was very welcome. Good race but if you've done Mayhill Massacre, TurboX or Hellrunner you will be disappointed. Date of review: January 23, 2011
In short: A nice, not too challenging 2 lap race. In full: A much easier course than the Mudman event. Didn't get off to a good start as some silly woman decided to start at the front of the race with her dog NOT on a lead, getting under everyones feet, nearly tripping me and several other runners over. She was also using a MP3/ipod, when it clearly states in the rules not too. All the other runners with dogs seemed to start at the back of the field, on leads and were no problem during the race. Other than that i enjoyed the race, maybe a water station at the half way point next time. Date of review: January 23, 2011
In short: Did not live up to the billing In full: I can only comment on the run and this was my first time at the event. I maybe wrong but i feel that this race has been copied and bettered by other organisers. It was billed as hard and painful etc etc. The reality was that it was a good trail/XC type race. There was a couple of hills and a small amount of mud but compared to Brutal and Grim races is very tame. Nice T shirt but no medal or goodie bag just a bottle of a branded sports drink at the end no fruit or other food. Which raises another point no water and no excuse really as the race was 2 laps!! The finish was dangerous and a farce, as runners had to cross dualists at the finnish point. Some runners ended up in the transition area as chaos ensued. Why did they not move the finnish line to the other side of the transition area??
To sum up Disappointing and expensive!!!!! Date of review: January 22, 2011
In short: Over hyped In full: 2 laps around an average wood for the money involved; not great. If you've done Hellrunner, Saab Salomon Turbo X, etc etc for the same price then you'll know what I mean. Being on a Saturday morning is a bonus, but no water stations isnt! Well organised, but so it should be for the price. Date of review: January 22, 2011
