In short: Challenging but fun and scenic course on traffic free roads In full: My first time but I will be back. Weather was shocking but didn't stop some brave souls spectating out on the course. Friendly marshalls and good organisation overall. Date of review: August 27, 2014
In short: Lovely scenery and friendly, organsiation so so In full: Need to consider pedesratian arriving start is far from city centre and no bus runs there at this time Bank holiday. Too few toilets and a long way from start clashing with cars arriving to park. Prize of wines poor for such a challenging run. need better changing area in field. Lovely scenery and friendly race. In short: Hilly but enjoyable In full: As previous reviews have said this is a challenging course. Theres a low gradient but continuous mile long uphill section around mile 4 which can sap your energy. Then you have the very steep hill at about 10.5 miles which you previously ran down. Only about 10% of the runners at my pace (around 2 hour mark) even attempted to run up it. I got about half way before having to walk. Overall great organisation and very friendly. I would suggest the admin tent drink station etc. is moved out of the cow field in future. Date of review: August 27, 2014
In short: Friendly, Hilly Half In full: This is quite a challenging half marathon with a hilly route particularly between kilometres 5 to 8 and the steep hill at kilometre 17 which you run down earlier in the race.
Many thanks to all the encouraging marshals and public who supported this race in very wet conditions.
A well organised race by Nice Work together with a lovely designed medal. Anyone who completes this half will have a great sense of achievement as it is not easy.
In short: Great hills, great weather, great race In full: Despite the rotten weather it was a great race - fantastic, challenging course and excellent support even with the heavy rain. My only suggestion for next year might be to move the 'administration' area out of a cow patted field - perhaps use one of the big farm sheds at Merton Farm? Otherwise, it was brilliantly organised and well supported. For anyone looking for a challenging and rewarding half, this is it! Date of review: August 26, 2014
In full: As a wheelchair racer, this was at my limit for the 15% gradient at 10-11 miles, only a short few hundred metres but was struggling for grip in the rain. I had a great time with great views, seriously want to do it again next year. This race is well worth the money and you should all DO IT NEXT YEAR. Date of review: August 26, 2014
In short: It rained all race, but was a great and enjoyable challenge In full: A great course around some of the pretty villages of Canterbury. Extremely well organised, with special commendation to the one car park attendant who'd been left to do everything himself. He was good. A great hill after about eleven miles and undulating throughout. I would definitely recommend this to any runner and will look forward to competing myself next year. Date of review: August 26, 2014
