In short: A race of two halves! In full: First time this year for me and a PB! I didn't make use of the facilities at the nearby school and went straight to the start. A few cars still coming through right up to the start time but no real problems. A long climb out of Skidby to Little Weighton was a good test and certainly sorted the men from the boys. After that it was mostly flat with long straight sections and I was much quicker in the 2nd half. The sun even came out halfway round to brighten my mood. Technical t-shirt at the finish is a good one and will get much wear. All in all a good local event. Date of review: February 25, 2013
In short: Great way to start the year In full: A bit of a walk to the start but helps you warm up,slightly disorganised start, didn't hear a gun? just saw people moving ahead! Plenty of hills in the 1st 5miles but running in a pack didn't really notice them. Plenty of encouragement from marshalls and spectators, tough hill to the finish, overall a nice variety and nothing too hard Date of review: January 30, 2013
In short: A flat calm day would be needed for a PB on this course. Distance from HQ to start isn't ideal, but nit-picking really. Cool t-shirt for finishers, encouaging locals & marshalls. Get there early enough to claim a parking space! p Date of review: January 30, 2013
In short: Excellent challenging race, good organisation In full: limited facilities mean showering back at home but otherwise good; lovely cafe, good tshirt! just needs chip timing! Date of review: January 27, 2013
In short: Well done I always worry about the traffic on this race but never seams to be an issue. A bit late arriving this year and very nearly missed the start so be careful and get to the school on time! A detonate return for me next January. Date of review: March 11, 2012
In short: Tough first half rewarded with fast second half! In full: Dominated by club runners this out of town race was a total surprise!! Even though the first half was full of gradients running with the pack ensured I was running 'at pace'. With a marshall stationed at the 5 mile mark shouting out the time as we passed I was spurred on and had smashed my own 10k PB by the time I'd reached 6 miles!! From that point on the majority of the course was descending gradients so a PB for a 10 miler was inevitable.
Great organisation, great scenery (well, I would say that, I live in the inner city!) and a thoroughly enjoyable run that exceeded all expectations. Date of review: February 4, 2012
In full: Loved the race & thanks to organisers and marshalls for such a seamless event. Hills were nothing like as bad as I'd anticipated, and as someone shouted to me at halfway, the second half was kinder and quicker than the first. Final hill was tough but didn't last too long (thankfully). The race is great value and Thoroughly enjoyable. Hope to be back next year. Date of review: February 4, 2012
