In short: Hills and hills then a sprint down to the finish!!
In full: I loved this race and it was so challenging but rewarding at the same time. The hills were a killer at times but the downhills made it worth while and helped get a PB. Support for a small race was great and the locations were really different. Will def be doing this again next year one of the best around!!

In short: Will be back next year!
In full: Still on Cloud 9 after a week gone since completing this run. I had attempted a half quite a few years ago, but didn't go well due to injury. The Basingstoke Half has now got me wanting to enter more runs, and also come back next year.
Was very well organised, starting off with an entertaining warm up, and samples of Clif bars - so tempted to keep eating, but didn't want a stitch!
From the start of the run, there were so many encouraging supporters. Lots of kids involved too, handing out jelly babies, and one corner where there was a line of high-fives, it was so much fun!
Very grateful for the supporter who was counting the number of woman that had past, which just pushed me more to keep going.
At the end, given a banana, Clif Bar, and a medal, all by the cutest kids! And a pat on the back from a runner behind me who was using me as their pace maker for the last mile :)
I can't wait to come back next year, I'll be bringing a few friends to join in!

In short: A funtastic event
In full: I really enjoyed this event, the runners and crowds lift you and speed you along a lot faster than your practice runs. Well organised and friendly - a great day.

In short: The perfect challenge - superbly organised
In full: This is an awesome race with amazing scenery en route. The crowds are great and the marshals encouraging. The event runs like clockwork and there are actually hardly any queues for the loos - that is a first!!
It is hilly though - but so much fun, that you tend to forget about them after a while. A challenging, but oh so worthwhile a race.

In short: A well organised, scenic, atmospheric half marathon
In full: This was my first time entering the Basingstoke half marathon having been a spectator the year before and feeling I should be running!
The entry procedure was simple and on arrival at the start/ finish area it was easy to find the chip collection point and baggage drop. Friendly helpers made this easy and efficient. Also got a good quality technical t-shirt, which I noticed quite a few runners wore during the race.
The start area was conveniently located and allowed everyone to get moving fairly quickly following the gun. I started around the mid pack, but would have found it difficult to get towards the front if I was late getting to the starting area.
The race was brilliant, with well organised marshals, scenic route (shame about the fog), and plentiful water stops along the traffic free route. A few big hills to contend with but great atmosphere at the village’s en route really helped to spur me on.
The finish area was well organised with volunteers taking off your chip and easy collection of medal and some much needed good quality snacks. Unfortunately I didn’t get a foil blanket (was unlucky at my timing coming through as they were trying to locate more blankets) but baggage collection was quick and easy to get my warm clothes on.
Overall I would definitely recommend this race and will be taking part next year. Thanks to the organisers, marshals, helpers and spectators for making this a great event.
NB-I’m a casual runner and achieved my target time of 1.57
