In short: Flat and friendly In full: Well organised and good support throughout. Bit weird running at that time and going by runners at different parts of the course could be uplifting but equally demoralising. Good race though. Date of review: July 3, 2016
In short: Brilliant race In full: Really well organised no thrills event. Basic and simple yet so enjoyable. Running 8 laps of an industrial estate mostly in the dark will not appeal to most runners, but that's what makes this event different. With a field of around 170 runners this year, the camaraderie was great and this is one of the few marathons that I want to come back and run again next year. Date of review: July 3, 2016
In short: speedy, friendly and low key In full: This was my second Marathon and a big difference from the huge scale of Frankfurt. The atmosphere was really friendly which made it for me a much more relaxed start to the race. Although the location was fairly urban there was a nice lake -visible during the light and also watching the sunset was enjoyable. Although I have heard lots of negative comments about a multi-lap course I love that once you have run a few miles there are no surprises for the rest of the race! It was also great to check your time and see my sister cheering for me so many times.Because there was a turning point in the race it meant that runners were always passing each other so could cheer on faster and slower runners. I really enjoyed this race and bagging a trophy and PB was the icing on the cake. Date of review: July 6, 2015
In short: Different kind of marathon, very well organised In full: This is a different kind of marathon. As well as being an evening/night race, it’s also eight laps around a housing estate/business park that (at the time) was in the process of being built. It may not sound ideal on paper but it was actually a great race. The multiple laps meant you got a time and position update every time you passed through the start/finish area, and were greeted by a big cheer every 5km or so. Changing from daylight to dead of night was also different and enjoyable, and the race organisers provided mini-kit bags if you wanted access to extra kit mid-race. Most of all, given this was the first running, the organisation was great. It sounds like the organisers had some last minute hassle with car parking but it didn’t show on the night. Definitely a good introduction to evening/night racing!
