In short: The name says it all - it is a big hill! In full: A great race that will become a regular on my calender now it is a 10k. The hill is hard but the long steady down hill makes up for it. And the organisation is great. Date of review: February 24, 2014
In short: Great hill race. Easy to get to by public transport In full: Lovely set of hills to run twice around. Small race with great organisation. Next year can we have a bigger baggage tent please. The small pop up tent filled up quickly and I had to leave my onesie under a table. Date of review: February 20, 2014
In full: I really enjoyed this race. I believe this was the first time it had been run as an official 10k. It was a bargain for the £12 fee with a great goodie bag, well organised and friendly atmosphere set within the lovely grounds of Harrow School. I've got to admit I was dreading taking part as i've not done much hill running and didn't find out until my race pack came through that we'd be tackling the legendary Football Lane twice! It was a very challenging hilly route, but there were lovely down hill sections as well. I wouldn't have contemplated this race as a complete beginner but despite my initial trepidation i really enjoyed it all the way through and the home made cakes were also a nice touch. Sometimes races consisting of a lot of club runners can be a bit intimidating for unattached or beginner runners, that was not the case here. I would definitely take part again. I've only one recommendation - i'd quite happily pay an extra £2 or so for chip timing and I think that would improve it even more. Thanks Metros! :) Date of review: February 17, 2014
In short: Good fun race, apart from the killer hill at the start.... In full: First time running this and wanted to do some hill work as part of my prep for the Reading Half. Nasty short, steep hill at the start which the race seems renowned for, but the bonus is "what goes up must come down" so some nice downhill sections. Managed a new PB, but this was more down to my own fitness improving. Nice race and the start area gives a lovely view across the area, including Wembley Stadium in the distance. In short: Brilliant organisation In full: Don't miss this race. The hill are a real challenge and the down hills fast.Easy to park, easy to get to, cheap and so well organised. The marshall were friendly and some of them very handsome. On the last half kilometer you are cheered along by the sheep and cows and you have a wonderful view of Harrow Hill and the school buildings. Date of review: February 16, 2014
In short: Very well organised, tough 6-miler with plenty hills to challenge your legs! Good prizes for winners and goody bag! In full: Very well organised race with race HQ at the excellently equipped Harrow School sports ground which had plenty of toilets and showers for the small field size.
Race started with a gruelling half mile very tough climb followed by some gradual downhills. Another tough longer shallower climb followed about 4 miles but then a fast finish down to the end.
Great goody bag which also included a medal, sports drink, fruit, crisps, chocolate and a nice cup of hot tomato soup!
Prizes for first 3 men and women and the category winners (which was very generous considering a field of only circa 150).
They are planning to make this a 10k next year which will make this even better.
Will definitely do this again! Date of review: March 9, 2013
