In short: still the greatest race around
In full: amazing again what a difference a year makes from baking sun in 2012 to snow and wind in 2013 if you didnt love this race and want to do it again again then you must be crazier than those of us who do.

In short: You gotta do this race at least once.
In full: 2nd year in a row running this. Flying over from N Ireland to take part. Plan to make this an annual 'must do'.

In short: Epic Race!!!
In full: This now rates as one of my all time favourite races! Truly brilliant from start to finish!

I like many missed out on a place in September, so secured my entry via transfer on the FB page. I then upgraded this on the day with no hassle from Cub to full Grizzly, if only all races let you do this!

The course has a real mix of terrain, shingle beaches, roads, farm tracks, open fields, bogs, forests, water crossings, add to this lots of hills, never ending steps up a cliff, a blustery wind and snow, it made for one hell of a challenge.

Great bunch of runners, and the most amazing marshals, including drummers and bagpipes. I could go on but you really have to experience it to appreciate what a great run it is (despite being the longest in terms of time I have ever run, nearly 1.5hrs over my 20 mile PB!).

Well done Axe Valley Runners I will be there next year.

In short: Grizzly weather made this event grizzly hard, but great atmosphere, scenary, superb marshalls. I'll be back
In full: This was the 8th time I have run the Grizzly, and it was probably the hardest, mainly because of the mud (particularly at the back of the field where I run!), and weather,... oh and the usual many hills, beach, bog, stream crossings, hills! There is something about this event which really grabs you. Many people return year after year, if they can get a place that is as the event filled up within a couple of hours of opening. I hope to be back next year, hopefully after doing the hill training I keep promise myself I will do!

In short: Glad I did it, but won't be back
In full: I love trail running, especially costal trail running, but this race didn't really do it for me - too much running round muddy fields and long off camber sections, and too many people on the course - many were trying to run in road shoes. Marshalls were fantastic on what was a freezing cold day - they were all cheerful and had jelly babies and cake! There should have been foil blankets at the finish though on such a cold day. and although there was plenty of water at the end, bottles would have been better - it was way too cold to stand round refilling a cup. The race website also need sorting out - it's not the easiest to navigate, too much information that's not needed making it tricky to find the information you do need. Great that the organisers allow name changes though, more races should allow this.
