In short: Flat, Well Organised and Enjoyable In full: I may be bias purely because I got a PB but this was one of the best half marathons I have done. Lots of runners (as usual all very friendly), great route, flat course and lots of potential for a fast time. The majority of the roads were closed off and the local residents were out cheering us on. There were plenty of water stations and marshalls, even the sun shined. All this made for a great day. I would sign up again without doubt. Date of review: September 5, 2013
In short: Fast flat course. In full: Picturesque run that is perfect for a PB time but so flat that I found my mind wondering - to how tired my legs were ! This would be perfect for first time 'half' runners and those looking for a PB but for those after a bit more of a challenge I would say the TW half in Feb is more suited. In short: Fast, flat a PB course, well organised In full: My first time running this race and i thoroughly enjoyed it. Great race, well organised and lovely route. Only little gripes were the toilets but I think there could never be enough toilets for that kind of race with that amount of people. And the water stops, plenty of them and sponges which was a very welcome relieve along the course, but it would be nice to have a plastic bottle on a couple of them rather than a cup as they are impossible to drink out of as your running. But to sum it up great race and getting a PB always makes it special! Date of review: April 23, 2013
In short: Great value race - a few extra touched would make it even better In full: Really like this one although the quiet country lanes with few spectators are not for all. Personally this is one of my favourites and back most years when I can. Superb value too.
Improvements that would be nice to see include extra marshalls for the loos like you see at Tunbridge Wells! There were two separate queues at one point and a few people getting a bit irate!
Otherwise bottled water would be good and worth adding a pound or two to the already low entry fee to cover.
Biggest improvement though is for the traffic - how the hell do you get out of Paddock Wood after the race?! Best to bring a picnic or go shopping for an hour or two rather than sit in the traffic jam!
Otherwise great stuff, see you next year. Date of review: April 14, 2013
In short: Excellent event - fast course In full: It was perfect running weather so I finally ran well here and knocked 3 minutes off my pb.
Really well organised event - perfect for beginners. Course is nice and flat and scenery distracts you from the exertion. Well supported, particularly the last half mile. Date of review: April 12, 2013
In short: Well organised, genuine flat course, definite PB potential, suited to all abilities In full: Organisation smooth all the way! The course is really flat with just 1 gentle incline between mile 1-2 and just 2 or 3 slopes up and over railway bridges. This was only my second half marathon and I took 9 mins off my PB!! The weather was perfect too which made it even better, sunny 7-8 degrees and no winds! Very quiet country lanes 90% of the way so don't expect hoards of supporters all the way round - but great encouragement from those who were out cheering us on! Plenty of water stations and sponges if needed. Also jelly babies on route if you can manage to digest one towards the end! Nice medal and a goody bag with water, Mars bar and crisps. Fresh oranges offered too. Wide range of cakes and drinks if you wanted any more! Hats off to Paddock Wood for a great event - expect many to be back again next year like me! In short: Great event - well organised, fast and scenic In full: Many thanks PWAC - this is a brilliant event. Largely closed roads, great Marshalls, slick start and finish admin. Nice medal and goody bag. Fast course if you're that way inclined. Cannot fault it, and come back every year hoping for a pb. Club runners and beginners in equal measure.
