In short: Lovely new local event, lets support these! In full: Great that water was given out in a bottle at midway point, marshalls all cheery and people along the route were encouraging to everyone. First HM and really enjoyed it, bit of a squeeze in local pub at start, loos etc, but isnt that a sign that the race is popluar and sure this'll be addressed accordingly with numbers in mind for future events here. As flat as can reasonably be found, don't understand the negative comments about course description as these were not hills!!!) Plan to run it next year :) Date of review: August 1, 2014
In full: For a first time event I thought it went well. The course was flat (couple of minor inclines) and I managed to knock 4 minutes off my PB. It was great to receive a print off of my chip time at the end as well. I will definitely be back in 2015. Date of review: April 12, 2014
In short: Good local run In full: Well done to the organisers for getting 400-odd people through the trap given the late problems with HQ. I found all the marshals really friendly and encouraging on the way round - it's amazing the reaction you get with a simple wave, smile or thank you! The hills were a great surprise/distraction from a pretty flat course but you can't expect a millpond can you? Thanks all - see you next year... Date of review: March 26, 2014
In short: Very good race, considering new race organisation was better than some In full: Very good race, considering new race organisation was better than some, not sure where some peoples comments coming from, I went right up and got my number. Would recommend to my runner friends all day long Date of review: February 25, 2014
In short: Lovely rural race, friendly staff, no problems In full: Good advice on parking directions, no queue for the toilets. Queue for numbers moved quickly and race started on time, so all good. Lots of friendly marshals, plenty of water stations. On a less windy day, definitely PB potential.
In short: Good race-potential for a great one In full: Despite a few minor things here and there, this race was well organised and the spirits were high.
'Running and Riding' have organised many great races including the A20 path and Downs race, that stands great on any fellows race calender. Headcorn 2014 being its first race wasn't without a few creases that'll iron out in time. The mud at the start is clearly related to recent weather and the HQ, I've read was a last minute job as they were let down elsewhere...i digress.
Fantastic community spirit will see this small village half marathon become a quick success in the years it has ahead of it. A quick course with well stocked stations, chip timing and a good looking medal. Bargain Date of review: February 25, 2014
