In short: Great local trail race in the Chilterns In full: Great addition to the racing calendar in the Chilterns. Great scenery around Ashridge estate and Ivinghoe beacon. A challenging route with some cheeky hills! Well organised and marshalled. The beanie at the finish along with tea and cakes (amazing cookies and cake!) was a nice touch. Do this race before it gets too popular! Will be back next year. Date of review: March 22, 2014
In short: Fantastic Run,great scenery but tough course In full: I would just like to thank the organiser's for what was a fantastic race-You can tell it was organised by runners,as the signage and directions were first class, and loads of friendly marshalls on the course and 3 very well placed water stops as well-I hope you'll be able to organise it again next year as I will certainly do it again-Almost forgot to say the tea and cakes at the end were a very nice touch too!! In full: Absolutely fantastic run in glorious weather!
It is a proper trail: no running at all on road and all on very varied terrain so never a dull moment. And don't get me started on those hills in the second half, I wasn't expecting anything so tough but the views were all worth it.
For an inaugural race, I thought it ran like clockwork and everyone was lovely: very friendly and encouraging marshals, a funny race director cracking jokes at the start, nice ladies serving tea and delicious lemon and chocolate cakes (all free) at the finish.
It is only a small race but it is the way it should be. I would definitely do it again. Oh and thanks for the memento hat too!
A perfect day out. Thank you! Date of review: March 17, 2014
In short: A good challenging course superbly marked and marshalled In full: I'd just like to say how much I enjoyed this run. Not all of it you understand - half way up Ivinghoe Beacon I was wondering why I hadn't chosen golf as my retirement hobby! Seriously, this was a first rate run; a good challenging course superbly marked and marshalled. Its informal friendliness brought back memories of running before most of the events became too large and over-commercialised. Please pass on my thanks to everyone, particularly the marshalls, who made this a really welcome addition to the running calendar. Date of review: March 16, 2014
In short: Tough Course but Beautiful In full: Fairly demanding 16 and a bit miles of trails with glorious views, sectacular scenery, lovely oen forest glades, hard hills... ooooh the hills! Wonderful last 2 miles in. Well organised and marshalled. Thanks so much. Will be back next year for more! Date of review: March 16, 2014
