In short: Very wet yet on one of the best in Essex again. In full: Pouring rain and flooding could not prevent another excellent Billericay 10k.
Excellent organisation and encouraging marshalling helped greatly especially through the flooded roads.
Well done Striders see you next November Date of review: November 10, 2012

In short: Heavy rain and flooding did not dampen spirits and the tough conditions with water logged roads made for some spectacular road racing. In full: Dartford Road Runners took part on mass as part of the final Grand Prix Series of 2012. The journey by car from Dartford to Billericay was made difficult by the driving rain and wind. Thanks to my ever patient partner and No 1 supporter. The Hannakins Farm Community Centre was well sign posted and directions very accurate. The parking facilities and Marshalls were excellent and got cars parked very quickly. The number and chip timing collection bays in the hall were easily found with distribution very efficient an well manned by smiling Striders. The hall was a buzz of activity prior to the race and had adequate space to change. Toilets were also avaailable and queues not were small, at least at times when I tried to use the facilities and that was often. A few more chairs would have been good but the difficulty of space is appreciated. The excellent provision of refreshements of tea, coffee, cold drinks, biscuits and nice cakes were a welcome sight, readily available, with queues not too long and more than fairly prioed. However, the weather conditions cast only a slight veil of trepidation on our brows to begin with. The warm up was more like running in a shower but we are made of sterner stuff. Once the full extent of the weather conditions were observed, it was down to the task at hand and to the race start. The Starter held things a bit too long but he was jolly and entertaining in equal measures. The course from memory had one slight hill at the beginning and the rest was very wet or under water. It is definetly a pb course, I was just 59 seconds outside my pb and I think if conditions were better I would have without fail, broken pb. Overall and to summarise, a very well orgainsed race, the Marshalls were very vocal and it was nice to hear your 'c'mon Dartford' being shouted on several occasions. So very well done on the Marshalling side of things. I would have rathered a unique medal or a dri-fit t-shirt to be honest but the pen memento is ok and it writes well. The Mars Bar and water were nice touches. Congratulations to all concerned. Please come and visit us for our Les Witton Dartfor 10 in January 2013. Date of review: November 9, 2012

In short: Despite flooding and torrential rain, a lovely course, well organised. In full: The weather only seemed to make everyone more determined. The Marshalls were quite magnificent in both professionalism, hardiness and cheerfulness. The dashes through several stretches of standing water were definitely novel and there was just enough up and down to keep it interesting. Facilities at HQ were outstanding, plenty of hot sweet tea and rolls available after. I wasn't even sure where the start was so didn't start my watch in time and gun to chip could be remedied, surely. Date of review: November 8, 2012

In short: Very slick race. In full: Quite wet this year, but marshals were fantastic in controlling runners and traffic. Glad they didn't cancel on the day as it turned out to be an event to be talked about for years to come. "Do you remember Billericay 2012 when it........?" Date of review: November 8, 2012

In short: Surely wettest race ever. Thanks to the marshalls who were very encoraging despite the awful conditions In full: Like the memento. No useless medal or boring T-shirt here. Something useful (i.e. the pen) so much better. The lack of a timing mat at the beginning still disapoints tho. Always nice to have one's chip time as well as the gun time.
