In full: I love this event and it was my 4th time at it. It is VERY tough but it doesn't pretend otherwise. I like the out and back and most of the front runners shouted over encouragement. I am a tad amazed at Black Rats comment re the parking and driving back home. It is a country area. The parking is a premium BUT you could use your initiative and go check out the countless streets around...with 90 mins in hand, plenty of time for that. I accept the organisers should have turned folk away at the round-about and maybe pinted out places to park. Great event and I will be back. Date of review: May 19, 2014
In short: If you love hills, you will love this race In full: My third year of running this. Glorious scenery and huge hills. This race gets better and better. I'll be back next year!! Date of review: May 14, 2014
In short: Parking atrocious In full: I was really looking forward to this. Set of nice and early and arrive 90 minutes before the start time. The car park was already full, there was a queue from the roundabout with everyone trying to get up a tinsy residential road only after sitting in all that to be told the car was full and turning round and sitting in the queue again to get back down the road. There was no other parking nearby so I gave up and went back home. I am very disappointed. Got up early to get there in plenty of time, travelled in excess of 150 miles only to find there was no parking and the organisation abysmal. I wont be entering again Date of review: May 5, 2014
In short: Great experience In full: One of the finest races I've entered, challenging, wonderful setting and you cannot fault the organisers they were perfect, thoroughly enjoyable day put! Date of review: May 4, 2014
In short: My new favourite In full: Be warned - it's quite hard. Some tough tough climbs but more than compensated by the beautiful South Downs scenery. Small and friendly, not one to do for setting PBs but a fantastically organised race. If you like off road / trail running this is a must.
Doing this next year definitely. Date of review: May 4, 2014
In short: My favorite race In full: My second year of running 3FM. Was just as though this year without the mud. Love this race. Superbly organised. Great feed stations with friendly marhalls. Great value for money. Found out from the organisers that the elevation climb is the same as climbing Snowdonia. See you next year!!! Date of review: May 10, 2013
In short: Faultless.......but seriously tough In full: Had my ar*e handed to me on a plate by this event, oddly finding it much tougher this year than last despite the lack of mud. Various things I can put that down to, but as an organised race this is about as good as it gets. Close parking, nice relaxed atmosphere, short loo queues, easy number pickup, amazing value at £20, loads of feeding stations, well spaced and lots of cheery and enthusiastic marshalls. Great medal, rapid results service, loads of home made goodies at the end. Top, top organisation. The course is spectacular, with wonderful views on a clear day, a mix of terrain - fields, lots of tricky rutted tracks, wooded sections, short tarmac sections and some gates. It is also seriously hard, and was more so on a warm breezy day. The hills you'll encounter here are immense, and there are lots of them - one of the hardest races out there in my view - but do it, it's a great event for a great cause, and finishing will leave you glowing for several days. well done Worthing and District Rotary clubs - top, top job. In short: Tough course, well-organised race with friendly atmosphere. In full: Thanks to everybody who was involved in the organisation of the race. It was superb. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and friendly, supportive marshalls/volunteers. Very supportive and friendly fellow runners. Maybe the race should be renamed 'The Tough but Friendly One'. :-)
The course was...well, tough, very tough, as advertised! :-) Miles 18-20 were 'Ouch!' 23-26 were 'Never again' and that last mile defies the laws of physics. That golf course can't be only 18 holes!
I second the thanks to the two chaps at the 'extra' water stop as that was a real pick-me-up.
Next year? Hmm, maybe, just maybe! Date of review: May 8, 2013
