In short: Good day out In full: Some of this was amazing, immediate text results, a t-shirt I'd happily pay for to train in and brilliant set up at SportsCity for families made for a great atmosphere and a bargain price. Course was grim once you got away from the stadium/athletics centre and not completely flat, with some sneaky little turns in it. Start was a bit crowded and would have benefitted from waves/pens. The kids run was a bit of a let down after the very, very long wait as what seemed like half the field got prizes. The Great Manchester Run use this location for their Mini/Junior Runs and they're so much better. Date of review: September 26, 2016
In short: Fast with good atmosphere In full: Great locations for start finish(probably better if a city fan). Flat course and potential for your PB for those interested. Good organization and friendly staff - will do again Date of review: August 26, 2016
In short: WE LOVE THIS MCR 10K RUN! In full: Super event that starts and finished on the Regional Athletics Track at the Ethiad (where Man City play!). Great interactive Athlete Village with lots to see and lots of freebees and at £20 you get the timed race, tech t-shirt, medal, water, snack bar and more - what a bargain. In short: ok but busy midpack In full: Could benefit from a waved start, spent most of the race overtaking people and finished with a chip time 3 minutes faster than gun time (took 3 mins just to cross the start lime). First mile was very busy and fairly narrow. Course is ok, a few false flats which are a bit grippy but no hills. Overall much better than 2013 when i last ran and for the money its hard to complain too much and gave me a reason to train. Date of review: July 10, 2016
In short: Good Race ruined by lack of water at the end! In full: This is a great PB race as it's relatively flat. Starts and ends on the running track which gives a really nice feeling at the end. Sparse support once you leave the athletic track and not the best scenery; but there were enough people around you to keep you motivated!
Biggest disappointment was when I finished and there was no water. I finished around the hour mark and there was no water for anyone after that - absolutely disgraceful and no explanation given despite asking for one!
I'd love to do it again as it's a quick race, but there needs to be better organisation and maybe more photos! Date of review: July 13, 2015
In short: Pretty good 10k around Manchester Eastlands In full: Nice to start and finish on a running track. Route fairly flat around Man City ground and surrounding area. Support mostly light apart from near football ground and athletics track. T-shirt, medal and some granola stuff in goody bag. Beginner and family friendly with a toddler race also. Start about 5mins late due to making sure road closures secure. Ron Hill was there which was cool. Would do it again as local to me. Date of review: July 13, 2015
In short: Good race In full: Not a bad race, good utilisation of the running track for the start and finish of the race. Wasn't a fan of seeing the elite at 5km as I'd passed 2.5 / 3km. Also not a fan of repeating sections of the run, and more photography around the course would have been good. Date of review: August 23, 2014
In short: Nice day out with a very good crowd In full: I did this in a Spidey morphsuit so I was grateful the weather wasn't too hot, as for scenery I couldn't really see much but I know Manchester pretty well anyway. The crowd and atmosphere was great and I think I made a few people smile which is always a bonus.
The staff there were pretty much spot on and I have no complaints at all.
The finish was really cool, coming into the stadium I got quite a cheer and had enough left to sprint full pelt to the line.
I do wish there were more photographers on duty but that's a minor grape.
in all, I'd say it's a definite 2015 date for me. Date of review: July 18, 2014
In short: Great organisation and good route In full: I was looking for a race as a follow up to a half marathon from the weekend before, and as i live five mins from the City ground this one was perfect. The event was slickly organised and a great venue for the start, once it left sports city it got a bit boring. It was very disheartening seeing the elite man leading the race coming back onto the main road as we hit 3k and he was at 4.5 at about 13 mins. Good route though and great to see so many different people taking part. Nice little goody bag with a medal & T'shirt. Would certainly do this again and recommend as a race worth doing.
