In short: Well organised and friendly race In full: A big thank you to Notfast Running Club for organising this race. Not the fastest course with a cheeky hill just after half way, but a very enjoyable experience. Special thanks to all the marshals and officials. Only minor niggle was it was difficult to hear the safety briefing at the start of the race. Date of review: July 13, 2014
In short: Year on Year NOTFAST pull out the stops for an Excellent Race In full: Have done this many times in the past, but have had a break from it for the past few years. Returned this year to a partially different course, which is much better than the old one, as it cuts out the Very Busy Main road past the Sugar Beet factory. It now back-tracks back to Kelham on the main road for a bit, but then runs along a minor, traffic-free road alongside the River Trent instead.
The course change also means less running on the Rugby Club field grass both at the beginning and the end...which is most welcome for tired legs at the end of the race especially.
NOTFAST always try to make the race memento a little different, and excelled with this this year, with all finishers receiving a very nice, useable, holdall for your kit and a towel as well! What more could a Runner ask for?
For the comments about the course and the hill, the one thing that no-one mentioned was THE WEATHER! Blessed with a cool and overcast morning (until after the race was done and dusted),this year...we were very lucky. The majority of times that I've done this race before it has been really hot...so yes, not a tough course as such on a cooler day, but if it's hot, you might not get a PB!
Marshalls all lovely, Traffic management Excellent (especially at narrow Kelham Bridge), and the Race Commentator on the PA system was very good, as he clearly knew a lot of 'Regulars', giving most of us a mention as we crossed the line.
Always in my diary...even if I do need a bit of 'Time Out' now and again. Thankyou NOTFAST! Date of review: July 17, 2013
In short: A great Sunday morning out In full: I love this race! Organisation is excellent, right from the smiley men in the car parks, to the smiley marshalls, to the commentator talking you in at the end. There is always a good mix of the slower runners/first timers, and those young bucks out to show how darn quick they are! This race caters for us all. Cheap as chips to enter, and a great holdall and a towel this year as mementoes. I'll be back! Date of review: July 15, 2013
In short: Brilliant race - highly recommended! In full: Lovely course - only the one hill, which wasn't anywhere near as bad as expected. Excellent marshalling and information. Lots of grass for the kids to run around. Date of review: July 14, 2013
In short: Well organised, just one hill to provide a mid race challenge! In full: Great organisation/marshalling and a nice course. Just one hill at about 6km but it's not a bad one and you get an instant downhill as a reward. Part of the race is on a main road so you need to take care on that section but I would recommend this race to any standard. Date of review: July 14, 2013
In short: Excellent race yet again.....but what happened to the t-shirt? In full: I've done this race for the past 2 years and love it! This year's was another great race, run like clockwork from beginning to end. Everyone is very friendly, the start is very efficient, the course well marshalled, 2 water AND a wet sponge station and the finish is amazing with a tannoy system calling out runners' names as they come in to a massive cheer from the spectators....AMAZING!! If only they were all like this!
One slight disappointment this year....what happened to the t-shirt? The last 2 years was a technical tee, of good quality and with good graphics. This year...a water bottle. OK, so it was a metal one with some Jubilee printing on it but I'm afraid this will just sit in the draw and not get used. I love training in my Notfast tees and was really looking forward to getting another one :(
All in all, another fantastic effort by Notfast Running Club...well done!!!
See you all next year :) Date of review: July 8, 2012
In short: Worth a go... In full: I am a new 10k runner and enjoyed this race, it was well marshalled and there were regular water stations. I finished in good time and the encouragement from other runners and spectators was great. The only thing that would make it better would be a t-shirt at the end instead of a metal water bottle but all in all a good race, mainly flat with a 5 minute hill in the middle. The sugar beet stinks at about a mile in but the rest is quite picturesque.
In short: Well organised. In full: Would have been an enjoybale race, but i was suffering in the heat with some weary legs. Nothing to complain about from the race point of view, well organised, well marshalled, plenty of water and wet sponges (lovely addition on a hot and sticky day), good parking, great tee shirt at the end. Big thumbs UP. Date of review: July 11, 2011
