In short: Excellent new race on the grassy downs
In full: Great replacement for the Duck Pond. Enough parking and not too muddy, barn in case it's wet. The course is over grassy downland above Lancing with great views south, North and all around! Long up and down hills with a bit of flat as well along the top but a Devil of a climb around 2.5 miles in. Paths rutted in places, so bring your cross country shoes in 2013. I was in multi use ones and shoulder butted the ground around 5 miles. No serious damage and was well able to continue. It finished with a long climb, a turn left and a plunge down to the line. Superb! Well down the Striders and thanks to all the great marshalls out around the course.

In short: Well-organised race on challenging, undulating downland course. Some great views but watch out for stampeding sheep!

In short: Fantastic but challenging race
In full: I really enjoyed this. Beautiful scenery and a challenging but fun off road course. Could be muddy in different conditions but the frost and sunshine were perfect. Lovely downhill stretch to the finish. Very well organised with lots of friendly marshals all the way round.

In short: Lovely cross country challenge with long downhill finish.
In full: First time I've done this race and my longest race so far! Long climb at the start over Highdown then a short wait to get over the gate.
Has more gates, bridges and undulating tracks through villages, woods and fields before climbing back up Highdown for long downhill finish.
Just wish i hadn't had to much rich foods with friends the night before!

In short: Great x-c running as it should be, great facilities, good organisation, great bargain!
In full: This is 'must do' race for any keen runner of whatever ability. Plenty of mud and testing hills to provide a challenge. At £7 for pre-race entry, this is a superb bargain considering the price of similar events. In addition the facilities at the Tennis Club are a welcome treat post-race as are the numerous race 'mementoes' of which there was a choice. Only one minor hiccup this year at about half-way into the race a race Marshall wasn't in place and some front runners were mis-directed. Otherwise very well marked, and enough drinks stations. Excellent.

Many thanks to all the race organisers, helpers and Marshalls for making this a great event. Long may it continue and hopefully become a RW top rated event.

In short: 9 miles of Hills, Downland, fields and Woods with superb organisation.
In full: The Waddle is 9 miles of excellant cross country running, incorporating chalk downland, trails, wooded paths, byways and fields. The views from Highdown are superb and the course is set in a very pretty area between the South Downs and the Sea. The Race and course organisation by Worthing Striders are second to none and the facilities available at Worthing Tennis Club which includes the use of changing facilities and Hot showers are superb.

In short: Great Race - thoroughly enjoyed it!!
In full: We were lucky with the weather, it was a fine, crisp day but not too cold. Well organised and makes a pleasant change to have showers / clubhouse near the finish :)

In short: I love this run!!
In full: Not enough decent training, carrying too much timber and should definitely not have opened the 2nd bottle of wine the night before but this race is my absolute favourite. All hills and virtually no flats, a small local race across the South Downs is hard going but glorious. Its true cross country with styles, mud, trees everything you want. If you like cross country, hilly, challenging courses do this one and dont plan for a PB! The best race in Sussex bar none

In short: Death on a leash!!
In full: Maybe not as bad as death on a leash but for me personally- very tough- coming into it feeling fit , using it as another training run for London marathon, slippery, boggy, very hilly! But a great training run! Will certainly feel it tonight/tomo!! Got round in roughly 7 minute miles!! Which looking back over the course am pleased with- great strength training on the hills! Nice down hill to finish with!! not much in way of prizes- ive not done alot but most I hear give out a slightly better range. Advised but at your own perril - not a easy race!!

In short: Everything I thought a cross country race should be: Mud, puddles, hills, styles. Loved it and certainly have to comment on the organisation as it ran liek clockwork
In full: I saw the review in RW for this race last year and was intrigued. Having run it last weekend I'll definitely be back for more in 2011.
Worthing Striders definitely live up to their Friendly Running Club tag. The race was well organised and the marshalls were fantastic. I loved slipping, sliding and splashing my way found the Patching/Angmering country side and the last run down the hill to the finish is particularly rewarding. I also have a good definition "undulating" now:) Thanks to all who made this race possible. We had a great time.
