In short: Below average and a bit annoying In full: To echo some of the comments below, the queue at the end was a joke, how hard is it to give out medals and goody bags. No time clock at the end even though it was an athletics track. The off road section churned up really badly so everyone went off course, mostly cutting the corners saving approx 100 meters according to my runkeeper. Laps are always annoying and meant the course deteriorated further, I cant see me running it again. Date of review: January 19, 2014
In short: Average race In full: Average race to say the least . The queue at the end without any watered was diabolical . Not a single banner , no time watch at the end . Course itself is ok but nothing exceptional - park was open to public so we had to avoid kids and dogs - live locally so easy to get to . But only a few race in January it was nice to test myself - will do it again Date of review: January 14, 2014
In short: It did what i wanted, but pretty chaotic and repetitive In full: I wanted a flat 10k with good level of runners to push me and it did that fine. Not great organisation, didnt get a medal, course repetitive and the laps of the park varied each time as so many cutting corners (my gps said 6.06 miles). But its close, was a lovely day and I got a PB (even allowing for the distance) so was happy. Date of review: January 13, 2014
In short: Could be much better! In full: Not a bad race - 3 laps of the track causes problems with the faster runners overlapping the slower ones. 4 laps of the same square park is mind numbing and too repetative! The queue at the finish line for medal and Tshirt was pathetic! 2 people handing out bags but one poor man individually searching for tshirts in correct size and then handing each 2 leaflets is very poor organising!
Also only race I have done that doesnt give water/fruit at the finish line!!
Will come back next year but only becuase its so local for me. Wouldnt travel to do this event! Date of review: January 13, 2014
In short: well organised, nice route In full: My comeback from injury event and I really enjoyed today's outing. The course was a mix of track, path and across grass. The grass did churn up quite badly with some very muddy patches. I struggled on the grass as I am running with damaged medial ligaments and was overly cautious of foot placement. Organisers and marshals all very helpful and friendly. The only critique was having to queue at the end for the medal/T-shirt which caused a bit of a bottle-neck. A good value event and I will gladly enter other events from this organiser Date of review: January 12, 2014
In short: Excellent marshalls and organisation, fast course. In full: Athletic track, tarmac park paths and a few muddy stretches. Friendly atmosphere. Very well run and reasonable cost. Definitely worth the trip. Date of review: January 12, 2014
In short: Mostly flat so PBs very possible In full: The instructions at the start about how many laps of the track and the park could have been clearer but in the end were easy to follow. General organisation was good except at the finish where a clock would have been helpful as despite revealing my number at the finish I was not listed in the results so am guessing at my time. Distribution of medals and t-shirts was a bit haphazard and water awkward to get at the end. Date of review: January 18, 2013
In short: For a quick January Jaunt, well worth it. In full: Looking at previous reviews I was worried but as it was my daughter's first 'race'. I wanted her to get the T shirt, medal etc that we all lose interest in after a few years. We were not disappointed, fast course and fairly well organised. Not over exciting course but she did learn some new words from the footballers we were running around!! Could do with a clock at the end and the results were a bit slow coming through. Second daughter may try it next year, she needs to expand her vocabulary. Date of review: January 17, 2013
In short: Not bad at all for a January run In full: I read a lot of negative comments on here before the 2013 run so was a bit apprehensive about running. I didn't need to be. Turned up on the day and registered with no problem at all. The run itself is ok. A bit repetative but it's not long enough to worry about really. Ran a good time (for me) and collected medal and t-shirt after crossing the line. For £11 it was worth running, although it was very cold! Only slight downside was the parking. Not enough spaces but that's not the fault of the race organisers. Date of review: January 15, 2013
