Voted Britain's best marathon in 2010 - from 2013 including a half marathon option. A classically simple and challenging course, from the Nower in Dorking via Westcott and Wolvens Lane to the Plough at Coldharbour and then to the top of South East England's highest point, Leith Hill - and then, following the Greensand Way, taking in the summits of Somerset Hill, Holmbury Hill, Pitch Hill, Reyards Hill and Winterfold Hill (and back). Off-road, muddy, lumpy, challenging. Should benefit from stunning autumn colours. Around 5200 feet of ascent and descent - ie a vertical mile. One of the Trionium race series. STRICT time limit to gain Leith Hill Tower for the first time (at the quarter way point, ie 6.55 miles) of 1:13. All laggards (including any late starters) arriving at Leith Hill Tower after 11.13 will be turned back, to complete the half marathon distance (no shame in that). Race entry fee includes tea and coffee before the race, personalised race tech-top, medal, momento, cooked post-race breakfast and use of swimming pool. Marathon race entry fee slightly increased after all previous Greensand Marathons made a loss! "Well organised, slick, great value" (2010 race entrant Lara March). See www.trionium.com/terms.html for terms and conditions. Sorry, entrants after 1 October will not have their names on the race t-shirt - they have to be manufactured in time for the race!
