I'm starting from scratch! Have just signed up to my first 10k.. I know currently, I can jog/walk 2 miles in 30 mins, so here's hoping 12 weeks is long enough to build up to 3 times that distance! I'm doing this for charity so speed isn't really too much of an issue! If anyone has any tips or advice - it's welcome feeling slightly daunted (but determined!) at the moment. Thanks!

Er... walking pace is 4 mph, or rather 2 miles in 30 mins....

Hahaha so it is. I've gone wrong somewhere converting from km to miles!

Yeah I meant 2.5 miles!

In fairness I think that walking pace is from 3 to 4 mph. I'd say, given that speed isn't an issue, just work out by how much you would need to increase the distance each week to get from 2.5 to 6.2 miles and make sure you can achieve those incremental distance. Good luck.

The couch to 5k plan attemps to get you running 3.1 miles in 30 minutes. Given that you're currently at 2.5 miles you could probably jump to week 5 or 6 of that immediately. That would leave you 8 weeks to double the distance, so I'd suggest adding half a mile each week for 6 weeks and then easing back for a week or two.

Enjoy the race.
