Yes, go. They are great fun and good for measuring how well your training is going.
I find then useful as speed training sessions as I can never push myself that hard when training on my own. Give me people to chase down and I hit paces I would never do normally.

even if i expect myself to be super slow? i seen last week some people did 40minute 5k so expect to beat that but really dont fancy being last - every1 will remember the 6ft 5 18st bear blowing soot from his bottom at the finish line haha

I doubt you will be last. I was handing out finish tokens at my local one the other day and there was a spread of times from 16 mins up to about 50 mins.

Honestly, turn up and you'll have a blast. I'm a parkrun Event Director and I can honestly say no-one will care who you are or where you finish. parkrun is about inclusivity, getting more people running, and enjoying it.

It's just a run in the park. It's not even a race.

Go for it!

I would agree. You couldn't hope for a more supportive way to start running. No one cares where you finish - it's all about actually doing it, at whatever pace. You will also, if you're a sociable animal, rub shoulders with people who can give you the benefit of their knowledge for beginners. And you'll find people in the same boat as you, which can be a comfort.
