never run a 5k before and just started running should i go along?
Hey im starting to train for a 10k next may in Edinburgh - should i start by going along to the falkirk parkrun this saturday to get me on my way?
any help would be appreciated
even if i expect myself to be super slow? i seen last week some people did 40minute 5k so expect to beat that but really dont fancy being last - every1 will remember the 6ft 5 18st bear blowing soot from his bottom at the finish line haha
Honestly, turn up and you'll have a blast. I'm a parkrun Event Director and I can honestly say no-one will care who you are or where you finish. parkrun is about inclusivity, getting more people running, and enjoying it.
It's just a run in the park. It's not even a race.
Go for it!
Go along, they are a friendly crowd there.
Go for it.
Go - you will wonder why you ever questioned going.
cheers folks im gonna just do it, nothing to lose
I would agree. You couldn't hope for a more supportive way to start running. No one cares where you finish - it's all about actually doing it, at whatever pace. You will also, if you're a sociable animal, rub shoulders with people who can give you the benefit of their knowledge for beginners. And you'll find people in the same boat as you, which can be a comfort.
cheers peter yea im quite a sociable bear so looking forward to it now
just finished a 5k run at work today and it took just about 30 minutes but now have a huge blister! reasonably happy with the 30mins though
went along today -30:10 so now ive something to beat I suppose
Well done. How'd ya like the hill?
29:08 this week!!! 62 seconds faster and still 18st!
