Hello there.

I've been running on and off for a few months. I'm attempting the runners world 24 week programme. No problems or pain so far but when i recently started using a heart rate monitor, I think I'll die in a field.

I'm 3 stone overweight. 46 year old Man. The monitor tells me my average rate is 150 BPM and maximum 202.

could you advise me on this matter please?

Whats the question?.

I am assuming you know your true hax heart rate, and not some theoretical one?

Is 202 the highest it's gone up to?

That is quite high, but mine has been known to go beyond that, and I'm not dead yet   In fact, I'm in pretty fair condition.

Your average will come down as you get fitter.

You might find it useful (if really unpleasant) to establish properly what your maximum heart rate is.  Have a look under the 'Training' tab above and you'll find a method for doing so.  It's no fun, though!

Bin the hrm if it bothers you. Your hr is what it is - average of 150 seems fine for running. 99% of people would be around that kind of range.

Just do yoursteady runs at a pace that you could chat to a mate at.
