Awwww Franny, your amazing support will get us through.

Hi everyone.

OMGosh I got my race pack too. I am a little nervous about getting in under 5 hours but I looked on the results and a good few finish up to 5 and a half. I just need to do 20 at the weekend and make sure I can get to 20 before the 4h 20 cut off.

Now Mr Chilli, that's a brilliant idea, I wonder what topics could be discussed in 5 hours.

Matt - don't worry about having extra rest days - the recovery is important

ooh, what are the cut offs at ABO? maybe it is a good job I am not doing it as I probably wouldn't meet them. 7 hours cut off for my marathon, I should be able to meet that.

03/10/2012 at 14:19

20 miles in 4:20? yeah, good job I am not doing it

you will all be fine though, and you will have each other to help you

and the super speedy t-shirts that ecky got printed

ecky, if you do 20miles in 4h2 you are only leaving yourself 40minutes to do 6.2miles!!  if you want to finish in under 5 hours though you really need to be doing 20miles in 3:50 at latest......if my maths adds up correctly...

03/10/2012 at 14:28

Maybe she speeds up at the end Loula...LOL...You are indeed correct with your sums...top of the class SIS.......

Mathschick I must admit I would have prefered a 7h cut off but we will be okay. I may just surprise myself. How are you feeling today.

03/10/2012 at 14:39

Yeh Loula you are right, thats the latest I can do it in. I did 16.5 in 3h 19 so I may be able to do 20 in 3.50 as I was going very slow. I know I will be a tad speedier on the day.I just didnt want to risk an injury.

I've just what could be a really fab idea, or a rubbish one - franny could text me things for us "hoping to get round in the time allowed group" to talk about. A bit like "just a minute", they need to be interesting and random. Lou, rocker and the really quick ones will be fine as someone in that group always has plenty to talk about
03/10/2012 at 15:11

by eck - you can't be spending your time looking at your phone! At mile 20 they don't want to see you reading texts! Could be funny though

ecky - I am fine. glad I am not trying to get round a marathon in 5 hours though - I know I can't go that quickly. Maybe next year though

03/10/2012 at 15:18

I echo Franny's  word's 100%.

ecky yes you are being sensible-i think im gonna crash n burn !! eek!!

by eck/MC, when i did Gloucester marathon that had a 5hour cut off too and i talked the whole way round with a lady id met there-2 ladies on one of the drink statins couldnt believe we were still nattering away 20 odd miles later!! :00

by eck...DO we always talk about that much whilst running? i think if im speeding up then i wont have enough puff

Plus also we won't need to worry too much about running for the next week, unless you're one of the ultra nutters. Running a marathon seems to mean your family and friends are a bit more supportive than just doing a long training run.

went to spinning and my calf started feeling odd when we were doing a sprint. SO didn't go fast after that, don't want to have any injuries. Might get the foam roller out later. Not swimming tonight - going to take it easy, have an early night and get up and run again tomorrow

pummel with the roller-------------------pain ..but nice pain
