12/11/2012 at 20:33

course not MC, but I did walk nearly 5 miles pushing moo.  It was a busy day. When do you hear about your leg?

12/11/2012 at 20:38

im having a rest day from running

12/11/2012 at 20:39

loula - I think you need one after your ultra!

12/11/2012 at 20:40

maybe i should have 2! still loooking for the results but cant find them!!

12/11/2012 at 20:41

by eck - missed your post, that is a long walk pushing moo. Mind you, I used to love going for walks when mine were in pushchairs

I am going back to the gp tomorrow, and then to the physio on wednesday. Tomorrow is the last day of the sicknote so not sure whether I will be back at work or not, need to get back but really don't know if I am going to be able to spend all day on my feet, never mind actually drive myself there and back

Evening all, how are we??

Sorry I've been AWOL since Druids.... had a great time on the run, beautiful scenery, only a few spots of rain, good company with Lou and also a nice lady called Louise. Was fantastic fun to finish the run in the dark, and to hit tarmac just as we needed a fast last mile to come in under 7 hours.

Anyway, confession time - I have an excuse for being AWOL.....

I have a new "friend"....

Her name is Liz, she's Australian, a runner, lives a million miles away (okay, 89 miles... slight exaggeration!) and we're getting to know each other...

So, i've been reading everyone's posts, but not really felt like I've had much to add.

MC - sorry to hear the knee still isn't fully healed, or that it's kinda healing then letting you down again. Just remember that a week of rest now may well stop a month of problems. In a connected note - my ankle is completely healed - no problem at all with at Druids.

Running wise i'm taking until the end of November to just do what I want, run when I fancy, eat what I want (within reason!), then December will see the start of building back up, to start my proper training schedule in January. I have no more races planned now until next year, and I think my body needs that rest, as does my mind to some extent.

With regard to this year, I've been really happy with it. I took 3 minutes off my 10k PB, getting it below 45 minutes. I also entered my first hilly trail race, my first ultra (and my second, and third!), I crewed for Lou on her brilliant NDW run, and i've had a fantastic time getting to know all of you guys, to the extent that I consider you all friends now.

So, next year - well, as you may have guessed there are some ultras planned...and other than that, well, who knows??!!

right, only my OH would take one of the kids to a cubs 'muddy hike' in their school shoes instead of wellies.  and who has had to try to clean the shoes? hope they are dry by the morning - they are stuffed full of newspaper and next to the radiator

12/11/2012 at 21:03

rocker - I hadn't refreshed the page so hadn't seen your post

great to have you back with us

really good to hear that you have a new friend, and someone that understands the running is good. Brill that your ankle is totally healed too. Good idea to have a restful month of just doing stuff for fun when and as you feel like it

89 miles?  Ooo, good training for both of you running to meet for a picnic

12/11/2012 at 21:16

For those who suffer with cold tummies etc during running, a football ref friend passed me a tip yesterday - wrap the area in clingfilm.  Apparently it works.  If you are wrapping a large area of your chest, just make sure you don't dehydrate as you sweat quite a bit more

12/11/2012 at 22:31

I've been running today Just 5 miles in the dark this eve after cooking dinner and before my meeting.

Byeck - what an odd tip. Is it really suitable for running?

Rocker - that is wonderful news about Liz! And that your ankle is all healed.

Jude - take care of yourself hun. Good to hear that hubby is back. Did he have a good time?

Have been cooking - homemade apple pie anyone?

evening by'eck, rocker, mc, lou and all

rocker, nice to hear from you dude, congratulations on your new 'friend' man. mrs matt says you deserve someone nice (she was reading over my shoulder)

mc, awe i hope your knee recovers soon. i went to see the physio about mine again this morning. she wants me to do some stretches and go to some deep tissue massage appointments.

so no running for me either i've got tues/wed off to take care of the kids while mrs matt goes on a training course. both kids are at school on wed, so i might try round the block or something. weird thing is, it comes and goes. saturday and today it didnt feel good, but sun it was great. weird.

take care all, have a good tuesday

yay chili! x-post, well done on one of the few of us running!!! if theres custard with that I'll snap your hand off

12/11/2012 at 22:49

No custard, Matt. But I did serve it to the girls with vanilla ice cream and homemade carmel sauce?  Cute littlest chili said ... Daddy, can I have some more?  I said, 'Pie and ice-cream?'  She said ...'No, this time I just want the sauce without pie or ice-cream'.  Hahaha

Morning all!

By'eck - hope the heart murmur is an innocent one and the virus goes quickly.

Well, I can go to work today.  I haven't eaten anything since yesterday lunch time but I stopped throwing up at about 10pm so I should be OK today.  (Loula - made me laugh about the special dinner, as it would've decorated the toilet bowl no doubt.)  Just feeling weak and have a throbbing head. Praying I can get through 7 lessons.......

Have a good day all!

13/11/2012 at 06:45
