morning

chili - that's exciting! Many years ago I worked at the Brigton Centre and we had Disney on Ice every year - a good show, although 3 weeks of it would get a bit wearing!

MOOOOORNING

Well it's Day 1 of my Marathon training. I am up for an easy 4 miles. I am trying a Bupa plan which seems okay with lots of speed training inbetween. I really need to sort out how we are getting there and where we are going to stay.

Road Runner, I bet you made him feel good. I like to encourage newbies on my runs. I reckon I will see more of them after tomorrow with all those New Years resolutions.

Mathschick, how is the knee.

Well, what are our Party plans for this evening. We have an evening with Jools.

31/12/2012 at 10:18

No party for me tonight as I have my muddy race tomorrow!!!

So this thread comes to an end tonight....

Chilli I feel that you must officially close it and open the new thread...but where?

MC-So you worked in the Brighton Centre did you live in Sussex once?

Ecky-Well done on your Marthon training start. Haven't really worked out what I am doing for marathon training. I really don't want to be stuck to a rigid plan so am intending to do 3 6 milers a week and one long run a week starting at 15 miles nest week (which I can do with no problem) and bulidng up from there. Will do at least one 20 mile race as well as several runs of that distance.Need to get into my head that I can do a Marathon.

Final run this morning of the year a leisurely 5.6 miles in 48 minutes. So final count for the year is 1745 miles.

Speak later lovely CRAC members.

Hiya Boss, I just have to wait for the wine to come out of my system before I head off. To be honest I probably wont stick to it rigidly as stuff happens. I reckon as long as you can build to at least 20-22 miles a couple of times before the day then you will be okay. I have a 20 mile race nearer the time which I will do.

Morning All

Oh its so sad this thread coming to an end....passes tissues all around.

Well done Boss on your excellent mileage and run today...and hope you get out later Ecky.

I have just been out a long dog walkie...looking into getting a waist strap so as I can take Chico with me on some of my runs...No run for me today and am working a late shift today and early tomoz...so no parting for me either.

AF...good luck with your race tomoz.

and I just want to

WISH EVERYBODY A VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR when it comes and hope 2013 brings you all health and happiness.

Have fun anyone who is partying and happy running to anyone running.

Let me know where to find you all next year when we move into our new crac home.

I know Franny, where do we fit in now.

Chili will find us somewhere lovely. Fab news about the tickets too Chili. We went years ago and the kids loved it. We saw Toy Story and little Ecky was shouting at Woody so much that he told him to shush.lol.

We will have to have a Crac Towers house warming party instead. I must admit we don't ever go out and just enjoy a few drinkies at home. I have made a big decision for 2013 too. I am going to go back to Hairdressing so am looking at courses to get my skills up to date.

31/12/2012 at 13:51

ecky - well done on starting the marathon training.

AF - I went to Sussex Uni and spent a few years in Brighton back in the late 80s.

knee not too bad today, but all I have done in terms of exercise is a gentle spin on the bike for 30 mins as recovery. And all my physio exercises.

I will probably be in bed early, I just can't stay awake late! I want to try a little run tomorrow morning to see how my knee feels. I am going to the physio on Weds so it would be good to get out and see how it is. I can always walk if running is painful.

yes, sad that the thread is coming to an end. But I will look out for the new thread!

Happy New Year to everyone

ecky - cross thread. Brilliant about your big decision, how exciting

31/12/2012 at 13:54

Hi Lovely people. I have just started our new thread over in Training as previously suggested. You can find it here

Sorry, I can't seem to do proper links.

Wow, Ecky that sounds an exciting move!

AF - well done on your run and plans.

Set my alarm to get up early and went cycling in the wind, rain and dark. Only managed 45 mins before my face hurt too much from the weather. It wasn't cold though and was kind of nice.

Happy New Year! xxxxxx

31/12/2012 at 16:24

Thanks Mathschick. I managed my 4 miles steady. Rest day tomorrow then 6 miles on Weds. I hope you get your run tomorrow and fingers crossed that your knee is okay.

Hiya Chilli, yes its a big step and I have been thinking about it for years just never had the confidence or the time. It never fitted in when the kids were little either hence why I gave it up. I used to love it though and still do the kids hair. Well done on your cycle too. I bet that was tough with the conditions. I was lucky with my run today as the rain and wind had stopped.

I am sad to see the end of this thread too but am looking forward to a New Year and exciting things for us CRACkers.

Just a quickie!

Happy New Year everybody!

Just got in from work and getting ready to go to friend's for dinner.

Feel quite tired from the weekend as we were at the pool for another 8 hours on Sunday. Elif finished with 7 medals for 7 races but no ind. golds so she was a little disappointed. I wish that she could train with somebody as good as her as there is never anybody pushing her. (I'm soooo proud of her, but just want her to be happy and achieve her goals.) Some of the teams train twice a day but I think she is still too young, don't you? - She is 11 years old.

Anyway, it was meant to be a quickie.

Here's to 2013!  Hope yours is full of fun, health, wealth, happiness, and running! xxxxxx

Good luck with the Marathon training!

I used to throw thumbs up at all runners I saw out and about but here in London that can gain you some very strange looks - people here are just so uptight and wary all the bloody time!  I made an exception because I can imagine what an effort it is train at that weight and I applaud that.

31/12/2012 at 18:06

I reckon people need to get over themselves as surely it's nice to pass the time of day with others. I remember my first trip to London and I was warned that people dont natter on the tube to strangers. I find this really sad as I love to talk to new people.

Jude I must admit I wouldnt want to push mine too hard at that age but I suppose it's a very individual thing.

Hello everyone. It seems strange that 2013 is nearly here.
My running hasn't gone as expected this year, but I have still managed to run two marathons and lose 3 toenails. I was hoping to run today but the weather has been so bad that the trails are getting downright dangerous. The roads aren't much better because there is so much standing water.
I must admit I do like it when other runners acknowledge me, say hi or even just nod in my direction. If I meet othere runners on the trails it is really helpful to know if a particular route is especially muddy,or blocked!
ecky, it sounds like you have a plan forming. Try to put somethin in action before you get too scared/start over analysing and are tempted to back out.
boss, all the very best for ttomorrow. You will be fab. We want to see lots of muddy pictures.
off to find our new thread now!

When I was on tour around the UK, I found people up north so much warmer and approachable than down here.  It's one of the things I hate about living in London.

That's why I'm so nice then.lol.

By Eck, I know its crazy. It doesn't seem 2 Min's since we started this thread. By Eck you are right too. I need to grab the Bull by the horns and make it happen. I mailed the College today and am looking at a part time job that would fit in with evening study and to help fund it. Oh and I think you are amazing having done 2 marathons in a year.

*crashes through CRAC tower doors*
Oh my goodness!! *out of breath* did I miss the party? Is it midnight???? Where's the drink? I've run all the way here and I'm knackered????..... Helloooo n happy noooo year all my friendies!!
Oh my gosh I can't believe how many Livy people I've met on here and the ultra thread- I lurve you all! I will have my lappy top back this week so I can type lots again - yayyyyyyyy.
My run year has been superb and it was all because of the fab people I met tht I achieved so much. It was a brilliant year with twists and turns along the way but all has made me stronger. I wish all of you the best for 2013 in life and running- we will ALL go tht little but further again and do brilliantly
My year has ended unexpectedly this week, I was as you know moving to a new life in Essex that I was much looking forward to. Some of you know already but some if you don't tht he decided to leave me - so, my life turned 360 again. Things sometimes have funny ways of giving you new opportunities though so I am making the most of putting things on track for 2013 - life is good friends xx
Happy new year!!!!
By the way... Who is starting the new thread ???
31/12/2012 at 22:04
